Hotel in centre of town

Large room. Good TV and WiFi. Nice breakfast. Reception a bit chaotic. Hotel is right in the centre of town - walk out door onto main pedestrian area. Lots of local shops and restaurants including some great ice cream shops! Town on a pretty steep hill, including Main Street where hotel located but hotel has a car park on site.

Alpen Road Trip 2016

Reviewed By Aaronb444

Myself and my wife completed the 'Alpine Road' trip from Bodensee to Berchtesgaden in early summer 2016. We stayed at this Hotel in Bad Tolz (01/06) and were not treated well by the male owner (an elderly gentleman) who showed poor courtesy. We stayed upstairs in a nice enough room and on arrival he helped with some of our bags (if you call dropping the bags at the foot of the stairs helping). His general approach to us was not good. No smiles, no welcome, no 'can I help you with anything'. I am aware anyone can have a bad day but if this is how he acts generally then I would not recommend this hotel for that reason. I hope he reads this and realises how we found him. Like I say if he had a bad day and this is not his true nature then fair enough, but if you run a Hotel then he should be aware how people ought to be treated.

Pleasant place to stay

Reviewed By Froggy2Denmark

Although we were only two people we got the family room (room no. 85) which was on the top floor (3rd floor). While it was a very spacious room and nice enough, it was a bit dark (facing north) and with rather high windows and no balcony. We would have preferred a balcony room on the front of the hotel (we didn't ask if we could change rooms; in retrospect we should have done so). However, the room was big and the bathroom was brand new. There is seating outside where you can eat or have a drink. We had our breakfast there which was nice. The food in the restaurant was not great. We know that German cuisine is not exactly renowned for its sophistication but to serve frozen vegetables in the month of July … that is hard to understand. Other than that, we had no complaints. The staff was friendly and we had a pleasant two-night stay before starting a week-long hike in Bavaria.

Wunderbar!!

Reviewed By JimWeir21

We recently spent 6 terrific days @ Benediktenhof. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Let’s start with the staff; Kathi, Martina & Klaus were wonderfully accomodating, even to the point of stopping their prep for 0800 breakfast to bring me my 0700 coffee in the garden. The hotel itself has that typical Bavarian charm, & the pool, spa & other amneities do nothing do detract from it. It is central to Bavarian travel: we drove easily to Bad Tölz, München, Neuschwanstein, Oberammergäu, Garmisch, the Zügspitze, Chiemsee. If your looking for value, service, reasonable prices, look no further. You will love Benediktenhof!

Alpenstrasse overnight stay

Reviewed By PathManSlough

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night last week while touring the Alpenstrasse. I say we stayed here but actually, the landlady has a relationship with the landlady of the Peterhof just opposite and was able to offer us a room in that building, as she was so full in the Marienhof. Our room in the Peterhof was very big and bright, with more abundant parking, so we were very pleased to be offered a room there instead. We returned to Marienhof for breakfast though which was an interesting affair, with so many guests in attendance! We shared a table with an elderly German couple, and tucked into everthing on offer. One of the lady waitresses fetched us a pot of boiling water so we could make our own tea and all in all, it was a good breakfast and a great experience to breakfast with such a busy crowd of friendly, homely German people. Watch out for the super-cool and friendly house cat (what was his name?), who sits on the reception desk awaiting a stroke!

unser dritter Besuch !!!!!

Schlössl Hotel, Bad Tölz, December 21 to Dec. 22, 2015 this was our third visit to this Hotel over the years. Located a short walk from downtown. We visited during the Christmas Market, which was delightful. This Hotel is privately operated and as always we found it to be clean and the staff very friendly and accommodating. There is no elevator, but not to worry the staff will carry your bags up to the room with a SMILE..We were in room No.12, which is big, when entering the room there is a foyer, the bedroom has twin beds pushed together with clean bed-linen, there is a desk , a flat TV screen , a sitting room area, an alcove and a small balcony. with table & chair. There is plenty of closet space, also an in-room safe. In the bathroom you have a shower, clean towels, a hairdryer… the heat in the room worked very well. Breakfast the following morning was plentiful as well, there is a breakfast-buffet and eggs will be cooked a la carte, here you find an assortment of bred & sweet rolls, yogurt, juices, cold cuts , various cheeses, fresh fruit. You will NOT leave hungry. As always we enjoyed our stay and certainly would like to stay here again when we are in the area since we are always well taken care of. Upon departure, the staff was kind enough to bring down our luggage from the room and even loaded it into the car, what more do you want. A big “ Thank YOU “ to the Hotel Schlössl team….

Warm, welcoming Italian restaurant in Bavaria

Reviewed By jennigens

We visited on New Year's Day when nothing in the village we were staying in was open. The restaurant was easy to find and brightly lit. Each of us ordered a different dish, but we all enjoyed it. My husband had the gorgonzola tortellini and absolutely loved it. In fact, we went back so he could have it again. The staff was welcoming, and we could tell the locals loved it as well.

Comfy room, dated bathroom, bizarre breakfast

Reviewed By terrym1

The young man at reception on check-in was courteous and helpful, and clearly thought my grasp of the German language was much better than it is in reality, but happily switched into English when he realised I was struggling. The room was spacious, with a large balcony and hill views. The bed was comfortable, although the bedlinen has seen better days. There was a comfortable armchair, plenty of storage and hanging space, flatscreen TV and minibar. A kettle was missing; disappointing for a 4-star hotel. The en-suite bathroom was very dated, with a typical german toilet with viewing shelf, and the shower was over the bath, but the head was mounted underneath a window at far too low a height, meaning the water would blast me in the face, rather than fall on me from above. The towels were threadbare and stained yellow with age. A buffet breakfast was available until 10am; we turned up for breakfast around 8.45am. The breakfast room was busy, and seats had been assigned to each room. My partner and I were assigned to a table of four - no problem, we didn't mind too much sharing a table at breakfast - but when we tried to sit opposite each other so we could have a conversation over breakfast, we were instructed by the waitress that we should sit beside each other, so that we would be staring straight into the eyes of our yet to arrive breakfast companions! I have never felt so awkward and uncomfortable, and the tone of voice of and the manner in which we were instructed by the waitress about where to sit, left me feeling entirely disempowered and unable to challenge the situation. Really, is this how to make your guests feel welcome? I don't think so! The breakfast offering itself was lacklustre at best, with cornflakes or muesli being the cereal options, alongside a few tough bread rolls and slices of rye bread. Fruit juices were available, but the small jugs were empty as soon as they were filled. Nutella was the only saving grace for me. A big positive was the excellent and secure cycle parking, and we very much appreciated this. We didn't make use of the swimming pool or spa facilities due to the restrictive opening times. However, the free wifi in the room came in very handy.
