Reviewed By BritneyNorthGermanyI gave this five stars mainly based on the wellness centre - most impressive. At least 6 different saunas, 2 indoor pools as well as the usual massage facilities. All included (apart from massage etc) in the price of the room. The hotel is situated in the middle of the small town - pleasant to walk around and lots of longer walks available from the hotel into the Harz National park. The rooms are alright - looking their age a bit and could do with some refurbishment. A few fittings in the bathroom were poorly maintained. Quite hard mattress but nevertheless comfortable. The personel were efficient and fairly friendly. I woouldn't class this as a 5 star hotel, it lacked the feeling of 'exclusivity' that such hotels are keen to foster - it's the little things that were missing/strange, e.g. battery operated candles throughout the hotel! Perhaps having some nuts along with the drinks at the bar; no champagne available. Breakfast was good, some pleasant home made salads and cakes/biscuits were a nice touch.

It is clean, even though a bit older (they are renovating the facade now), but it has the perfect position, near the park and close to the center. The breakfast is good and the service very nice. They heard us talking English and addressed me in English, even though obviously only basic knowledge was there. It was very considerate and I really appreciated the effort, especially because it does not happen that often.

Cozy and comforable with a great view
Reviewed By Timo SAs motorcycle tourists we appreciated this stay very much: got the bikes parked safely, there was a very nice bar and very friendly staff. Room was nice and there was a beautiful inner courtyard sitting area as well. Staff spoke English and you could put the beers on the room bill, which is great when you want to avoid any extra hassle. Atmosphere was really family-like and some of the rooms had a great view to the mountains around. The location was perfect, close to downtown and there was a bunch of restaurants around.

Unfortunately we arrived too late to use the Spa facilities which closed too early for my taste. After a long drive, I would not have had minded a couple of hours in the saunas. None the less our one night stay was very pleasant. We ended up with some other guest watching the soccer German league semi finals and had a very nice evening

Reviewed By UncleWillie83Big comfortable rooms although a bit outdated in style but the hotel is going through renovation so it's okay. Friendly staff especially the black dude in reception, he gives out really good and welcoming energy. The food is not always the best but sometimes it's actually really good especially around dinner time, (make more of the chocolate moose and ditch the banana? Moose...it tastes like meh... All the booze you can drink for free and you're allowed to take it to your room, that's a win for me. We'll probably come back sometime because there's so much more to see around there, magical valley. Give the black guy a raise.

Reviewed By Y2821GBjeremyhStayed for a few days as Corona restriction were being lifted. Very well-run hotel with a good indoor swimming pool. Good sized and well-thought-out bedrooms. No noisy ventilator fans in the bathroom! WiFi worked fine. Clientele very largely German, hence traditional German breakfasts and dinners. TV system seemed 100% German. No idea if English is spoken - probably spoken well by the reception staff. Pleasing little spa town with the Royal Hanoverian Ironworks a highlight - if you are "into" the history of technology. Do-able without your own transport - there's a well co-ordinated rail and bus system throughout the entire Harz region. Not to mention an extensive narrow-gauge railway system in the eastern/northern part. A good centre for a relaxing holiday.

Reviewed By Pleitegeier111Mein Sohn und ich hatten ein Doppelzimmer gebucht und bekamen ein Appartement. So hatte jeder sein Schlafzimmer. Sauberkeit gut und alles wie es sein soll. Frühstücksraum weihnachtlich eingedeckt und beim Frühstücksbuffet gab es alles was das Herz begehrt. Sogar Rührei wurde für uns gemacht. Brötchen aufgebacken aber sehr lecker. Immer wieder
