Perfect stay
Reviewed By tk3232The small village of Bacharach has 2 main hotels - Hotel Am Markt is one of those. Located in the center of one main street of town. Breakfast was very good, buffet style and included in price, but limited time from 8 am to 9:30 am due covid. It was very convenient because the town is too small and it is hard to find any place for breakfast. Our Junior Suite was a good size, with modern design, clean and comfortable. Good bed linen and towels. Bathroom is perfect. Staff was very kind to provide us a big tea kettle in the room. The staff provided us with a free ticket for public parking, and also allowed us to register 3 hours earlier than indicated on the official website. Very nice!! Disliked · For my opinion this hotel is bit overprice due no elevator and no AC. In our case, the AC was in the room, but when we asked to activate it (for an additional fee, of course) it did not work. Thanks the staff agreed to this and the service fee was not added.

Lovely aparment for visiting Rheinland
Reviewed By 726michaelvVisited here for 4 nights, where we stayed to visit the surrounding Rheinland, wineries, hiking in the hills etc. Bacharach is an excellent location for visiting the area and we really liked the apartment belonging to Altkolnischer hof, where we stayed. The apartments are located a few blocks from the hotel with parking spots just outside. Kitchen facilities in the apartments are good and you can easily cook your own meals if you dont feel like visiting the nearby restaurants. It was a nice place for us to visit the neighbourhood and experience surroundings.

Simple hotel with helpful hostess
Reviewed By 657reneeyThe hotel is a 3 star and I think that was a stretch. It was clean and offered a family room - (bedroom for us and pull out couch in a separate room for the kids). It was on the top floor with an elevator that only goes to the third floor then you climb another floor. The elevator is VERY small (good luck with any bulky luggage). There is a decent size indoor pool that the kids enjoyed. The hotel is very close to the train tracks so it can be noisy but it also has a nice view into the village. The breakfast was surprisingly good, for such a simple hotel, the breakfast was exceptional. There are no toiletries in the bathroom, although there was a hair dryer. The shower was our biggest complaint, it was just like a hose, no shower spray, just water pouring out like a hose over your head and also very limited water pressure. It took a lot of effort to get soap out of your hair. So summary, nice hostess, reasonable location but expect simple!

Reviewed By Gail MOlder quaint hotel with nice but not fancy rooms. I had requested top floor and it overlooked the main street. Had a family run feel to it. Breakfasts were very good. Short walk to a bike rental shop with the bike path just outside the town....highly recommend to to that !

Simple, but clean rooms, with everything you need. One point of criticism, the rooms were very noisy. The hotel is run by a family, which gives you a very and warm welcome feeling. Absolutely a plus for us! The breakfast was surprisingly wonderful! Fresh food, warm bread, a lot of options to choose from, perfect. The friendly staff will take care of a great start of your day.

Drab and dishonest
Reviewed By Ed LWe stayed at four hotels on our vacation to Germany, three were wonderful, and then there was this one. The first problem was communication. The lady spoke German rapidly not caring that we couldn't understand a word that she said. And she made no attempt to understand my concerns. Communicating in a foreign language can be fun; with her it was painful. The property is drab and in poor repair. We were given a room with a double bed pushed up against the wall; we reserved a triple room two beds. The lighting was poor with bulbs out and exposed makeshift wiring. A big piece of bathroom corner trim came off in my wife's hand. There was very little ventilation, no air conditioning, and our room was hot. There is no easy way in or out of the hotel; you either have to go through the restaurant if it is open, or down through an industrial door into a dark alcove that leads to the street. Parking is included but I was surprised to find out that it was an unsecured lot out of town, about a half mile from the hotel. The hotel was obviously a poor value but I felt that the lady was downright dishonest. We were charged a higher rate than the triple we reserved despite being given a less expensive room. The breakfast was an extra $25 a night, which we didn't know until we checked out. I think she was telling me that Agoda gets 16%; apparently she thinks they should list her hotel for free. I tried to go over the charges with her but again there was no communication and we were definitely not treated fair.

Reviewed By Jeff BWe loved our stay because the host and hostess were very accommodating and helpful. After a touring flight and drive from Frankfurt Airport we arrived to a warm welcome. The room was very comfortable. Sadly on our first night a very noisy family checked in and woke us up. The hosts made it better for us by giving its a much nicer room for the same price . The Pension is it outside of Bacharach town but within walking distance. It was very quiet and peaceful because of that. Breakfast each day was excellent, wide range of meat, cheeses, breads , fruit and yogurt. Each day the hostess made us a special breakfast entree which was great. Although the pension that not have its own parking lot there is one right across the street. The hostess got us a pass which we used for our stay. If you want to see Bacharach and the surrounding areas this is a wonderful place to stay and it is cozy, quiet and have very accommodating hosts

Reviewed By JodibglaserReally enjoyed our stay at Hotel Rhein. Great, quiet room with view of Rhein. Amazing, hearty breakfast and excellent bikes available for touring the area. Staff were helpful and friendly. We did not eat at restaurant but we would stay here again and try it then.

Very old, full of character
Reviewed By MDMAW11We loved our stay but were willing to embrace a very old building and all that goes with it. Having said that the room was comfortable, the shower good and plenty of storage. What else did we want. Well breakfast which was very substantial with plenty of variety. The hosts were very welcoming and very helpful. Bacharach has lots of places to eat, and bars, all a few minutes walk away.
