Short stop for Bromo
Reviewed By Nightowl96We only stayed one night at the mador hostel but it was absolutely worth it. We came with an overnight train from Yogyakarta and got picked up at 6am from the bus station. The staff at the hostel was so kind and extremely helpful. They organised the entire tour for the bromo. And also help us organising a bus to get to Banyuwangi. The hostel was clean and the air conditioning was good to. Extrem good value for the price. Would stay again! ?

Unique combination between Javanese and Dutch hospitality. Three private rooms and one mixed dorm room for ten people. Our healthy food is all home made and sold in our cozy restaurant/bar. Beer available. The hostel comes with a tourist office and fine information about East Java.
Potential To Be Exceptional

However, rooms are uncomfortably warm and although breakfast is pleasant, it is on the small side. | The Long | The hostel is located in a lovely location and is a 5min walk to the train station or 10min walk to the Colourful Villages. The staff are friendly and pleasant and there is a nice atmosphere about the hostel. The cafe area was a great place to relax without feeling pressured to buy anything. The wifi is good throughout the building. The rooms are well designed to maximise space. However, they are uncomfortably warm and although fans are provided, they do not do enough to cool the room down to a suitable temperature. The breakfast provided is freshly made and are tasty but portion sizes are small (1 slice of toast with cinnamon apples and peanut butter or 1 pancake). The only other thing we tried from the cafe was the Tuna Salad Wrap which wasn't very good. It lacked both Tuna and salad and was completely covered in a warm sauce making it unpleasant to eat. The laundry service cost 8k rupiah per kg and came back smelling amazing within 24hours. Despite feeling welcomed, at times it seemed as though you are not trusted as staff are keen to make pay up front for stuff rather than placing them on a tab. We were told that laundry could be paid the following day however, we asked on multiple occasions when were we going to pay for it. In addition, we were asked to pay for our beer upfront one night as there would be no staff tomorrow morning to settle the tab yet we were staying for two more nights. Although this is not a massive issue the staff need to be aware that you do not always carry money on you in the hostel. Overall, a lovely stay but the tempertaure in the rooms needs to be addressed.

Good place for backpackers
Reviewed By Judith BBetter than I expected; my previous experience with LP hotels is they stop trying once they’re included in the travel guide. Simple but clean, and the only place I came across in Malang that seems catered for backpackers; even though I did not come across any other backpackers when I was there. The cafe on the top floor has nice views of Malang and tasty food. It’s conveniently located next to the Gunung Harta office for taking the bus to your next location and they have their own tour agency across the street to book tours to Bromo and Ijen. The street didn’t feel that safe to walk at night as there is no foot path and it’s badly lit - so take a taxi/ojek if heading out in the evening.

But the people who work on the restaurant downstairs was really annoying. They staring at me the whole time while im eating the food what I order from them. There's no security coz i dont see any. But the bed was really chill. Which is good.

The view is nice like in pictures, the design is unique with ship themed.Love the double bed bunkbeds for 2 adults n 2 kids (Family suite), breakfast were up to standard. Cute room slippers n amenities provided, room was clean simply minimalist n comfortable bed. Kapal Garden hotel's location is about in the middle,, between Batu and Malang. BNS, Jatim Park 3 takes about 20 minutes, also to the City of Malang is about 30 minutes. Overall we would like to come back in the future for this value that we paid for with what we get.
