10 Hostels hotel in Cologne: Best hotel deals for 2023

April 26, 2023 Brain Ambrose

There are 2,000 years of history in Cologne, and visitors here will find everything from Roman towers to Gothic churches to fine examples of modern architecture. Cologne has a variety of museums, too—check out the Museum of Applied Art, the Museum Ludwig and, if you have a sweet tooth, the Chocolate Museum. Be forewarned, though—the gift shop at the latter will utterly ruin your diet.

Great stay

Great price, stunning room!! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The cleanliness level was very high, and there was vending machines by reception, as well as a bar. If I didn’t have an early flight I would of paid for breakfast as it was a great price. I would definitely stay again.

Clean stylish hostel with buzzing bar downstairs

Reviewed By 494travels

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We were in one of the individual rooms, 'Paul', would definitely recommend as you have a comfy platform bed with views out over the rooftops when you wake up. Double glazing astonishingly good - barely heard the traffic. Shared toilets and bathrooms are thoughtfully decorated and kept impressively clean. Chilled little lounge area with free coffee and tea facilities is great if you're working remotely. Bar downstairs was rammed on a Saturday night with young crowd, cheap drinks and excellent music. Our room was on the sixth floor so it didn't disturb us. Only observation would be that soundproofing of the door was not great, as is the case in most hostels to be fair, so if you get people making noise on the floor itself within the corridor that might disturb you. Not really an issue for us most nights though.

We didn't make our sheets, so they locked us out of our room and cancelled the room keys

Reviewed By deos16

Was recently here on a trip to Cologne, the hostel is in a central position so we thought it would be a good place to stay. One of the main qualms I had with this hotel is the staff and their behaviour. The first full day we spent at the hotel, we went out for a visit to the surrounding area. While we were out they came into our room. We had not put our bedsheets on our beds as we had got their late the night before. To retaliate to this, with no warning, they cancelled our key cards hence we could not get back into the room. After complaining to the hotel, they arrogantly moaned at us then gave us only 1 new card. They had locked out multiple rooms, I am not even sure if this is legal. However, the rooms where overall nice. The food, both in the morning yet especially in the evening, was not nice. It was largely very bland. There were many school trips in the hotel that made a large amount of noise until late into the evening.

Great location, good for a backpackers or quick visits or Carneval

Reviewed By tpbrazie

One of the best locations! I have friends who have lived in Cologne for a while and this is the hostel closest to the train station. The rooms are also spacious, the price is usually low, and there is a cute bar and lounge downstairs. However, the bathrooms were absolute disasters - toilet paper rolls everywhere, clogged toilets, trash in the showers. Free parking was available but very far away. Parking on the street is available for an outrageous fee.

Liar manager!

Reviewed By MikhailOld

Manager of the hostel is a liar. Check out time in hostel is 12:00. When we arrived in evening, 2 of 3 ours beds were not cleaned and made up. Moreover some strange man was sleeping on one of the beds. Manager promised us that they would give us a discount for such inconvenience. But at our check-out, when I reminded about promised discount, manager denied to give us a discount. Moreover he argued with me that he had not promised so. The tone of argue was very rude!!! I advice every one not to use services of this hostel.

Stayed here for one night during December 2019 period. Saturday to sunday. 8 friends devided over two 4 person rooms. City center is a 20 minute walk away. Rooms were 'ok', bathroom was clean. Bed wasn't what I hoped for as it was quite hard. There were no plugs or charging possibilities next to your bed, so if you have to share the room with people you don't know, I would miss this. Rooms are badly (sound) insulated. Really suffered a lot from surrounding noise (mostly running children) from other guests. Paid 55€/person and had better (or more well thought of rooms) experiences at other stays.

Clean rooms and comfy bed!

Overall nice stay, the room was nice and bright with a good view, clean large bathroom (single room private). The credit card machine didn't work so I had to take out cash (which cost me a transaction fee) and was disappointing. I stayed in the a&o in Neumart the first night in Köln and I would prefer this neighborhood.

Pleasantly surprised!!!

When we booked this after seeing the pictures we wasn't expecting much but we find ourselves to be happy with this Hostel. We was given the 1st room in the corridor and I was thinking we would hear lots of passing noise and we didn't. There is a little gap between door and floor that let some light in at night. Bed was very comfortable, we had our own bathroom and the shower was very good. We had a Kitchen which we never used as Koln Centre is only a 20min walk away. WiFi is very good again something I was expecting. There is plenty of parking spaces.
