Other places for value. 2. Bed soooo comfortable. 3. Full on showers. Not a dribble. 4. Extremely clean. 5. Shared bathroom for us; but right by the rooms. No issues what so ever. 6 great kitchen and lounge. 7. Carpet and overall facilities very clean. Would have given my eye teeth for air conditioning. But that is not a reality. Good fan provided.

Reviewed By AcinetoThe backpackers looks like it was refurbished from the historical building. The layout was a bit all over the place but it did add to its uniqueness. There are a few parking spaces down the driveway but there is a parking lot right outside the building. Just check the meter since it is a paid parking area. We grabbed most of the beds in a 6 person room so it was private for us. I liked how each bed had a different sheet covering so it was easy to pick a bed based on design. I also liked how each bed had a wall socket and a small bedside cabinet to put stuff on. There was a cupboard in our room which got quite hot. We were on the top floor and there were a few bathrooms scattered around. The one closest to us was quite small but did the job, particularly the amazing water pressure in the shower. I wasn't there for check-in but you did have to give a deposit for keys. Check out was fairly easy. Make sure you strip the bed and bring the sheets down to the basket in reception. It was quite a cheap and nice place for a cheeky weekend away.

Booked for two nights in October, ended up to stay one week in April xD Great welcome from the international team, very clear and asslefree check in. Clean facilities, superfast WiFi, huge kitchen and magical balcony with harbor views ( you cant miss the sunrise!!) make this hostel one of the best I've ever been! Pleasently surprised by the eco friendly minded concept and also notice this guys help you find a job and offer weekly rates if you're up to save some money working in kiwifruit (and more) while staying in the sunny bay of plenty!! I'll definitely be back!! Thanks Wanderlust NZ :)

Reviewed By Marvy2A bit of a hidden gem, great room on the 2nd level - comfortable beds and clean modern facilities. Great to have a washing machine and dryer to use in the bathroom too. All staff we encountered - Lisa at the front desk, the lady at the shop, guy in the bar and waitress were friendly and helpful. Thanks for the fish n chip shop suggestion Lisa ! And finally - superb views ! Great to watch the sun go down from the balcony.

The hostel itself is a really comfortable place to stay with plenty of life in it with so many people from all over the world. It’s cleaned thoroughly everyday by the friendly staff whose hard mahi really shines through. Management c’est tre bien with Lorys always active and in control and Lorre who’s super friendly and organized no matter what; always trying her hardest to accommodate whatever request you have. If you’re ever in Mount Maunganui and need a place to stay this is it! Life really is better at The Mount, especially at PCL! Ka pai bruddah!

Reviewed By kittym409It currently does not exist. We booked and it took our money. Luckily, we had seen the reviews on here so we knew something shady was going on. When we got there, a nice man and his daughter were living in the hostel and they said it has been under renovation for quite some time. We never received any email correspondence warning us of this. He did offer us a refund and we got this within the week, but it was a major inconvenience having to find new accommodation at the last minute.

Our backpackers has a huge balcony with STUNNING VIEWS of the harbour, fantastic communal facilities, internet cafe, Free Wifi, free bikes, herbs & spices, DVD's, fishing rods & we book all local activities. We accommodate up to 72 people in a variety of different rooms If you are after a CLEAN, FRIENDLY & RELAXED stay, at Harbourside Backpackers one night will turn into days. . . there is plenty to see and do - swimming with Dolpins, white-water rafting, scenic walks, surfing, relaxing on beautiful white sandy beaches and so much more! The bus station and information centre are a one-minute walk away... everything else you might need is just a short walk - we are the CENTER of town. Tauranga is a GREAT place to base yourself for a while and find work if you need your travel funds topped up! We offer weekly rates for those wanting to stay and work in the area, and can assist you in finding a job. We even have a van to help with transport. We look forward to sharing our beautiful region with you!
Very disappointed
Reviewed By nick_backpackWe ordered a room for 2 nights and called the receptionist to say we need a late checking. The lady said there will be no worries, someone will open the door for us and we just needed to call back the same number. At 10:30pm we are calling that number because we arrived, surprise, phone didn’t even ring. We had to wait for 2hours outside. Nobody apologized. After the second night the checkout was at 10am, at 10:10am we were about to leave at the staff pushed us out. Even for a backpacker, the guest is supposed to be respected. THANK YOU for the worst customer service I ever had.
