St Peter's Church

Decided to escape our four walls and see St.Peter's Church, not knowing the area. What a lovely surprise. Always associated Heysham for the nuclear power station. The views from this church were amazing and the village has made every effort with their community garden for children and adults to enjoy . Well done. We Will be back to enjoy the various walks.

Please keep this stunning part of England a secret. It is the most gorgeous place - small villages and rolling countryside in one instance then broody hills and windy fella the next.

Carnforth Station Heritage Centre

Reviewed By victoriac549 - Chester, United Kingdom

I visited the railway station many years ago because of a love of the film Brief Encounter. I was stunned by how much work has been carried out since I last visited. As well as details of the stations restoration there is a cinema which shows Brief Encounter on a loop in a small replica cinema and there is also a very interesting homage to David Lean. The centre is run by very friendly committed volunteers and is a really great experience it’s free but donations are welcome. If you’re a bit of a film buff I’d throughly recommend this absolutely lovely heritage centre.

Wonderful piece of cake and a really good cup of tea sat in the sunshine. Had pistachio and lemon cake delicious. Then went in the gallery next door. Some beautiful gifts for sale, unusual and reasonably priced. Lovely lady serving us. Very helpful. Bought my friends 70th birthday present and it's not until December. There was an amazing sea glass garland I would have loved. But my husband didn't take the hint. The sun shone lovely day out

Gresgarth Hall Gardens

Reviewed By TrekkinTraveller - St Helens, United Kingdom

The gardens are only open one Sunday every month. We were lucky enough to be in the area that weekend and enjoy the stunning gardens beautifully designed. We explored along the river and the various footpaths and bridges. We really enjoyed our few hours here. There wasn’t anywhere to eat (I’m not sure if that was because of covid) but there was a coffee and cake stand at the front of the hall for light refreshments. I’d really recommend a visit.

The Snug Micropub

The first micropub to open in the North West on 1st August 2012. We serve real ale, gin, cider, wine and soft drinks. We do not have music, TV or gaming machines. We serve pints in 23oz marked glasses which means on top of a full pint you get a head up to 2cm on your beer, it's the northern way. We do not sell food other than crisps, peanuts, pork scratchings and pickled eggs. Dogs and well behaved children welcome.
