Usuki Sekibutsu

It is definitely worth visiting, or I rather say it is worth traveling to Kyushu to visit Usuki Stone Buddha. There are four different areas, you can see many statues of Buddha, which are engraved in grottos. There are explanations in multiple languages by scanning QR code. That is quite helpful. The area is not very big, and it takes maybe about one hour. In front of this site, there is a field called Stone Buddha Park. As I visited, flowers were in full bloom.

Imari Okawachiyama

Despite the fact that it took around 9 hours from Tokyo, using various types of transport, i was determined to return to this beautiful village. Still as stunning as I'd remembered it. There are a few buses a day from Imari but I'd missed the last one around 3.30 so had to take a taxi. It wasn't expensive. Wandered around for an hour or so taking photos, visiting potteries, drinking tea and then got the bus back to Imari. Had about 45 mins to wait for a train at Arita on the return journey the next day so had a look round there too. It's also beautiful. There's a pottery museum there which I'd been to previously but didn't have time on this occasion. Using JR Pass, only had to pay for private train from Arita and taxi.Returning next year!

Tea house overlooking the pond has tatami mats where you can sit and enjoy a matcha set. Easily accessible by Fukuoka's excellent bus system.

While you're around Fukuoka, please stop by at this cool owl cafe! Well, I can't say much about the cafe, but this place was exactly for animal lover or bird lover or owl lover!! And apparently this cafe wouldn't allow you to just walk in. You must booked an appointment in advance to enjoy 1 hour pet the owls. The time start with 10 minutes introduction about how, when and where to pet the owl at the second floor, then head to the first floor where we can interact with the tame cute birds. It was a lovely experience and friendly staffs will help you to put the owl on your arms or shoulder. Be careful with their poo!
