Green Dog Svalbard

Green Dog separates from other commercial dog kennels at Svalbard, since our dogs are a mix between the Greenland dog and husky – and also, since our family, consisting of 2 adults and 4 children – and our guides – are living at the kennel, year round. We put dog welfare above all, so it was a natural choice to live at the kennel, to be present with our 4 legged friends, at all times. When our dogs retire, we put great effort in finding new families for them and this has resulted in many happy relationships. You can read about some of our pensioners at the blog at www.greendog.no. We offer tours with our dogs year around - on dog sledges in winter and on carts or by foot, accompanied by a happy Green Dog, in summer. To give you the best experince, our sled tours are for maximum 8 guests and everybody gets the chance to steer the dog sled. All of our tours inludes coffee & bisquits and we offer a 50% discount for children up to 12 years. We look forward seeing you!

Valhall

Valhall is an adventure centre on Krottoy in the municipality of Harstad just outside Harstad. Here you will be able to experience nature up-close in the most northerly habited archipelago, a natural pearl with sandy white beaches and a total of 365 islands. Krottoy was once part of Tore Hund’s kingdom. Here are ancient viking monuments. The island is lush and can boast a variety of plants, animals and birds. From the top of the island, you can get a 360-degree panoramic view. Here you can also quickly find the best fishing grounds. You can hire a fishing boat and try your luck at fishing. A boat trip onboard a rigid inflatable boat (RiB) in this archipelago is a fantastic experience with many birds and animals (white-tailed eagle safari). Here is a local family of seals, and you can visit the birdrock on Helloy with over 6000 nesting birds. Steinavaer further out in Andfjorden is a group of islands once populated by 127 people in the early 1900s. Here are traces of old habitation, and we can take you on a guided tour telling stories about what life was like. The archipelago is ideal for canoeing and diving in clean and clear water. Krottoy is a great place to see the Northern Lights in all its glory without the disturbing ground lights. From the top of Krottoykollen there is a full 360-degree panoramic view of the sky and free sight in the direction of the North Pole.

Arctic Experience Tromso

I go further, to bring you closer! I keep it small, friendly and personal; My name is Dan, and I`m a native Norwegian, born and raised in Arctic Norway. I grew up under the Northern lights, so I know the nature up here, the folklore, the culture and the best places to find the lights. I am also a professional photographer, and if your camera is up to the challenge of taking pictures of the Aurora, I will show you how to set it up for doing just that. I will also take pictures and e-mail you after the tour, free of charge of course. My dedication creates your memories, so I will go as long as it takes and do whatever it takes to give you the best possibility to see the lights :) All the best, Dan the Aurora Man :)
