10 Cultural Tours in Island of Gozo That You Shouldn't Miss

December 28, 2021 Jeremy Dunfee

Part of the Maltese archipelago, Gozo is the second-largest of the seven-island chain and basks in the Mediterranean off the coast of Sicily. More rural than its sister island, Malta, Gozo has a population of 31,000. Home to some of the oldest religious structures in the world, the fascinating Ggantija temples, the island offers dramatic orange-red sands and perfect snorkeling waters at striking Ramla Bay. Rickety buses ply Gozo's roads, making getting about the island an exciting component of your trip.

CallCabs Malta is an excellent service. More so, it's very reliable, and you can count on it when you need their service. This review section leaves me only a selection of one date, so I chose the latest one I used their service. However, my wife has health issues and need regular treatment every two weeks. Since she can't walk very well, we cannot take the bus but use CallCabs' service instead. That goes on for over a year now, and their service is like clockwork. Always friendly, helpful, and very reliable. I had my fair share with other services here before I found CallCabs. So I can compare, and CallCabs definitely sticks out in a positive way. I highly recommend them to anybody who needs a ride.

After a short twenty-minute ferry crossing you will reach Mgarr harbour, which immediately sets the pace to Gozo’s unique atmosphere. Your guide will lead you around the Megalithic temples of Ggantija, the oldest free-standing monuments in the world, pre-dating the Pyramids of Egypt, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site (two of the seven Megalithic Temples of Malta). This will be followed by visits to the medieval citadel in Victoria, the fjord-like bay at Xlendi and Dwejra. Gozo is well known for its crafts, particularly handmade lace and knitted garments. Visitors cannot fail to be impressed by the island’s lush countryside, its serene atmosphere and how different it is from the larger island of Malta.

My experience was terrible. Buses are all super old and broke. Doesn’t have audio at all, so you pass by places and don’t even know what you’re seeing. Bus drivers are not even a little bit polite, doesn’t use microfone to inform stuff and I even had the “unluck” of waiting to hop on and the bus driver just passed by me, making me wait for another 45 minutes for the next bus. Really a waste of money.

Tour to Malta’s sister island of Gozo. After a twenty-minute ferry crossing, on setting foot in Gozo you will notice that although both islands are similar in history and development Gozo has a character entirely of its own. Gozo, which is a three hilled island, is greener and more picturesque than Malta. During this excursion, we visit Dwejra, the citadel in Victoria, the bay of Xlendi, and we also stop at a spectacular cultural experience depicting Gozo’s long and colourful history. Free time for shopping will also be given – Gozo is renowned for its woollen goods and handmade lace.

We know our way around and gain precious time by following a customised itinerary, depending on the particular preferences of our clientele. We conduct the tour in such a way that, besides being culturally and historically informative to the customers, we always allow them to chill out and reminisce in every location we take them too. We do not compromise with the professionalism of the tour guide or the standard of the tour transport vehicle, and therefore always strive to offer an optimum service. The tour guide is also licensed to drive as a precautionary measure, but we prefer to offer separate services of a tour guide and a chauffeur.

Inclusions: Air-conditioned vehicle, Bottled water, WiFi on board, Private transportation, Professional tour guide, Ferry Tickets to Gozo and back
