January 15, 2022 Malia Yoakum

Montreal, c’est si bon! This French-speaking city is considered the cultural capital of Canada, and is a cosmopolitan celebration of Québécois style. A horse-drawn carriage ride around the cobblestone streets and grand buildings of Vieux-Montréal will give you a taste of European flavor. The Basilique Notre-Dame is a confection of stained glass, and the Plateau Mont-Royal district will delight you with its quaint boutiques and cafés. Dig in to a massive plate of poutine to fuel up for a tour of the epic Olympic Park.

I’m a Québec born world traveler and baker. I have spent more than half my life living over in Vancouver and overseas. I've acquired knowledge in many places around the world which has made me a well rounded baker. I have recently moved back to my roots here in Québec and am hoping to spread the love and passion I have developed over the many years for artisan Baking. I've been a daily baker for nearly half a decade now and I've developed techniques to make artisan baking easy for first timers!

I love trying new experiences. I highly recommend this one! It is a cooking school located in Old Montreal. We were 7 people attending the cooking class. We chose to make the apple dessert, the risotto and the sweet potato soup. Everything was decadent. The chef was delightful and taught us many tricks in the kitchen. I learned a lot of new tricks in the kitchen and we all helped each other for all the recipes. It lasted about three hours. We started with a sweet potato soup as an appetizer and it was decadent. For the main dish we had the scallop risotto and dessert was like an apple crumble. Honestly it was amazing, memorable and delicious. The premises are clean and the service was attentive and the chef was great.
