10 Concerts & Shows in Mitte (Borough) That You Shouldn't Miss

April 21, 2022 Phylicia Berquist

Berlin is an edgy city, from its fashion to its architecture to its charged political history. The Berlin Wall is a sobering reminder of the hyper-charged postwar atmosphere, and yet the graffiti art that now covers its remnants has become symbolic of social progress. Check out the Weltzeituhr (world time) Clock, topped by a model of the solar system, then turn back time by dining at the historic Zur Letzten Instanz, a 16th century restaurant that was frequented by Napoleon and Beethoven.

Berliner Philharmonie

Often a tough ticket, the Berlin Philharmonic features some of the best classical music to be had in Germany.

The place was packed at lunchtime but there was plenty of room to sit on the floor and everyone had a good view of the musicians. Good acoustics also, and this was a highlight of our Berlin trip. A cheap and cheerful lunch was also on offer before and after the concert, which was especially welcome as we hadn't had time to eat.

Prime Time Theater

Prime Time Theatre is Berlin's northernmost venue for grown ups, the only one in the "upper half" of the city. It has become known for its unique stage sitcom "Gutes Wedding, Schlechtes Wedding", which right from the beginning appealed to local audiences and has developed a cult following beyond the city limits. The creative team also brings other funny and charming plays and ideas to the stage - or even to big cinema screens - of course including the Prime Time Theatre “LOL - Laugh Out Loud” guarantee. This is theatre for the people - as colourful as the city district Wedding and Berlin itself. Artistic Director Oliver Tautorat slips into his alter-ego role of postman “Kalle” who asks the guests “WHO OR WHAT IS HAPPY? - ME!”, which is a classic example of German grammar à la Berlin. Laughter is the the best medicine, but it’s also exhausting! That’s why in our foyer, RAZ Café offers delicious food and drinks for refreshment: from popcorn to tarte flambée, from teas to cocktails.

Monbijou Theater

Komische Oper

This opera house stages modern comic performances.

The theater it self is so impressive with the decor, seats, balconies and setup. Everything is efficient from entry to service. And the best thing is that you get a family feeling, people are not all dressed up and you can finns children in the aduience as well. If you want a nice opera with a modern scenery, you should absolutely chose this place. We saw "The magic flute".
