10 Bus Tours in Island of Gozo That You Shouldn't Miss

March 13, 2022 Margarita Chappel

Part of the Maltese archipelago, Gozo is the second-largest of the seven-island chain and basks in the Mediterranean off the coast of Sicily. More rural than its sister island, Malta, Gozo has a population of 31,000. Home to some of the oldest religious structures in the world, the fascinating Ggantija temples, the island offers dramatic orange-red sands and perfect snorkeling waters at striking Ramla Bay. Rickety buses ply Gozo's roads, making getting about the island an exciting component of your trip.

I was picked up at my hotel in a luxury car & met Rita, the very knowledgeable guide who tailored the trip to beat the crowds. It was a stunning day which started at 1pm & finished at 8pm, it included the magnificent Saint John’s Co-Cathedral in Valetta, gardens, boat trip, sea views, a falconer whose large hawk sat happily on my arm for a photo, Hagar Qim the megalithic temple & Mdina the mediaeval city. It was a wonderful day of learning & culture which I can highly recommend. Great value for money!

CallCabs Malta is an excellent service. More so, it's very reliable, and you can count on it when you need their service. This review section leaves me only a selection of one date, so I chose the latest one I used their service. However, my wife has health issues and need regular treatment every two weeks. Since she can't walk very well, we cannot take the bus but use CallCabs' service instead. That goes on for over a year now, and their service is like clockwork. Always friendly, helpful, and very reliable. I had my fair share with other services here before I found CallCabs. So I can compare, and CallCabs definitely sticks out in a positive way. I highly recommend them to anybody who needs a ride.

After a short twenty-minute ferry crossing you will reach Mgarr harbour, which immediately sets the pace to Gozo’s unique atmosphere. Your guide will lead you around the Megalithic temples of Ggantija, the oldest free-standing monuments in the world, pre-dating the Pyramids of Egypt, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site (two of the seven Megalithic Temples of Malta). This will be followed by visits to the medieval citadel in Victoria, the fjord-like bay at Xlendi and Dwejra. Gozo is well known for its crafts, particularly handmade lace and knitted garments. Tour to Malta’s sister island of Gozo. After a twenty-minute ferry crossing, on setting foot in Gozo you will notice that although both islands are similar in history and development Gozo has a character entirely of its own. Gozo, which is a three hilled island, is greener and more picturesque than Malta. During this excursion, we visit Dwejra, the citadel in Victoria, the bay of Xlendi, and we also stop at a spectacular cultural experience depicting Gozo’s long and colourful history. Free time for shopping will also be given – Gozo is renowned for its woollen goods and handmade lace.

Inclusions: Lunch, Air-conditioned vehicle

My experience was terrible. Buses are all super old and broke. Doesn’t have audio at all, so you pass by places and don’t even know what you’re seeing. Bus drivers are not even a little bit polite, doesn’t use microfone to inform stuff and I even had the “unluck” of waiting to hop on and the bus driver just passed by me, making me wait for another 45 minutes for the next bus. Really a waste of money.
