Swiss National Park (Parc Naziunal Svizzer)

Founded in 1914, the Swiss National Park is a strictly protected wilderness (IUCN 1a) where flora and fauna can develop freely. The entire habitat, with all its natural dynamic processes, is strictly protected. Research projects and long-term observation programmes allow scientists from various research institutes to understand complex processes more clearly. Excursions in the National Park offer a fascinating experience amidst a truly natural landscape.

Beautiful and texture diverse national park with well tended hiking paths. Natural larch pine forest, especially beautiful in autumn when the trees' colours change.

Val Fex

Reviewed By lbes - Ohio, United States

We first discovered this valley on a hike from Muottas Muragl on the “gastronomic trail” and fell in love with this picturesque valley with views of glacier covered peaks, cattle, llamas, goats and sheep and the sounds of cowbells and mountain streams. The first time we walked on the marked Trails on either side of the valley. The second time we decided just to walk along the road to be in the floor of the valley which by the way is quite a bit shorter than the trails up on the side of the mountains. The trail to the Val Fex runs right by our hotel in the entire trail was absolutely beautiful.

Engadine Museum

The Museum of Engadine Culture was built in 1906, on the initiative of Riet Campell, a passionate collector. It looks at first glance like an age-old Engadine house. The outside has all the typical features: the sgraffito-style door and window frames, the Romansh inscriptions, and the traditional oriel window. In fact, the house is little more than a hundred years old and was constructed as museum by the famous architect Nicolaus Hartmann Junior of St. Moritz. The panelled living rooms, or stüvas as they are known locally, have come from farmhouses and village houses in the Engadine and surrounding valleys. They give you a wonderful insight into the lifestyles of affluent local families over the last five centuries.

Lake of Staz (Lej da Staz)

Reviewed By luxuryvoyage - Switzerland, null

Popular easy walking route from either St. Moritz, Celerina or Pontresina to the lake of Staz in winter, summer and autumn. In summer, you can swim in the lake. The nearby restaurant is a hot spot during the whole year with an outside terrasse and an inside restaurant. In summer, you can rent a sun chair but the price is much too high, 90 swiss francs for the day (none of loungers was occupied when we were there).

Museum Alpin

Reviewed By Swissbulgarican - Lausanne, Switzerland

Absolutely worth the visit here! You get real insight into the people and industrieds surrounding Pontresina over the last few centuries. Cool mountain climbing artifacts, pictures, and films document this. The museum is a very old building showing how life was a few hundred years ago. Interesting as well for all aged-children.
