Beautiful view, nice rooms and staff with a heart for cats
Reviewed By 662mzWe stayed 3 nights at the end of September and were very satisfied with the hotel. Our room "Aurora" was nice and clean and had a gorgeous sea view, with a small balcony around. If you are not a morning person, the shutters allow to block the sunrise light. The only negative point is the rather busy road below with "crazy" :-) Italian drivers making noise even late at night. The hallways and entry are very clean and nicely furnished. The breakfast is served on a terrace with a gorgeous view, offering diverse hot and cold food of rather good quality. What warmed our hearts is the care the hotel staff gave to the several cats living around the hotel, even though cats apparently are not so appreciated by the people there. We hope this will continue in the future! If you like swimming, the Lido degli artisti is just a few steps (+ many vertical steps, as every on the Amalfi coast) away - beautiful water with sunbeds to rent on a secluded beach!

Tremendous boutique hotel for our honeymoon

The rooms are spacious and very chic (with A/C to boot!), and the location is to die for - mere steps away from the heart of the town and beach. A surprising highlight was the breakfast - it was a truly impressive spread with tons of still-hot-from-the-oven pastries, fresh fruits, meats, and cheeses, and made to order coffees (perhaps the best cappuccino in Amalfi!), served on a beautiful terrace overlooking the town. On top of all that, the staff is beyond superb. The same three staff are ever-present, making the place feel like a very intimate family-run business - Lydia welcomed us every morning to breakfast warmly, the two gentlemen somehow figured out it was our honeymoon and left us a surprise bottle of Prosecco, and all were extremely helpful with recommendations. In short, this is a extremely beautiful boutique hotel with a warm family-run atmosphere. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the Amalfi!

WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER!!
Reviewed By Nuts4BoltsI can't believe this hotel has 5 star reviews?? WORST hotel experience I've ever had!! We arrived with a family of 4 adults and a confirmation from Hotels.com for 4 adults. Theresa went to her laptop and said her booking only showed 2 adults. She brought us to our room which had only one queen size bed. My reservation confirmation showed a queen size bed and a full size pullout couch. She literally took me to a utility closet with a washer/dryer, brooms, mops, vacuum cleaners, cleaning supplies, etc. where a filthy rolled up cot was on a large shelf and said she could make that into a bed. NOT ACCEPTABLE!! My reservation also confirmed A/C and only part of the unit had A/C in it (during a major European heat-wave). We arrived at 8:00 pm after a long hot day with a train from Rome and ferries along the Amalfi Coast. The building was sketchy, lobby & staircase had NO lighting, we had to use the flashlights on our cell phones to see up the stairwell, elevator wasn't working and unit was on the 3rd floor. Theresa spoke broken English and was rude and frustrated when we told her we wouldn't be staying. She refused to refund us our hotel expenses even though the error was clearly on their part. Since I had 4 adults confirmed "in writing," she should've been apologetic for the inconvenience and offered us a refund - the room didn't match our confirmation and she didn't have any other rooms available. Very poor customer service and an insult to Italian hospitality!!

Peppe and Chiara greeted us on arrival and could not have been more helpful. We had an issue with our driver not being able to find the villa when departing so Peppe phoned him several times to give directions etc. The room was amazing and the view from our balcony was spectacular. We booked the London suite. The TV came with English speaking channels aswell as Netflix - something not all hotels on the coast offer. With Positano famous for so many steep climbs for beaches, restaurants, shops etc. we found the location of the villa to be perfect. 10 minutes to the nearest beach while a 2 minute walk got you to several restaurants and a shop. We would definitely recommend this villa. Thank you, Ronan and Carol, Dublin.

B & B Nightmare! One of the worst experiences in 50 years of travel!

The Room: We requested a quiet room away from any traffic noise, with the intent of staying a week. Instead of being truthful with us about the fact that their B & B did not have such a room, we were booked into a corner room with two huge balcony windows overlooking major street intersections. The traffic noise was so bad sleep was impossible! After 2 horrible nights we informed the owner/manager Carmine that because we had been misled we had no choice but to cut our stay short. Instead of an apology, with no forewarning and without our authorization or signature, he used a photocopy of our Visa card and quickly charged us for 7 nights while we were in our room packing, which was dishonest. When we appealed to his sense of decency, he showed no absolutely no remorse or contrition (please read a similar TA terrible review posted by an Italian, titled “Dishonesty”). Additionally, the bathroom smelled of sewage and made us nauseous; the hot/cold water was intermittent so one either burned or froze in the shower; the only chair in the room was hard and had dirt stains; there was no desk; the beds were extremely hard; and the down comforter was bleeding feathers, which scratched. The Breakfast: Our impression was that much of the food served was not fresh. The first day the bread roll was stale. The butter tasted rancid and had an expiration date a month earlier. The tangerines were half rotten. The cheese and ham was tasteless. The eggs were stone cold. Conclusion: AVOID this B & B if you are looking for a place you want to enjoy staying on your vacation. Travelers deserve much better than enduring a nightmare experience at Il Reticolo B&B Salerno.

Reviewed By Paradise01794443152What a beautifull place to stay!!, a lovely room with terras and seavieuw, a private beach and a beautiful terrasgarden where one can have a lovely breakfast, lunch or diner, which you can order at the last moment, no problem, they even prepared a snack for my hungry son late in the evening. But above all the staf; Felix and the others really did all their best to provide us a super pleasant stay and we had real fun together, thank you for everything!!, your smile, you warm welcome and a big bag of oranges and lemons which were given to us when we left. Inside the structure a room for the breakfast with cafeteria at exclusive service of our clients. Large green spaces surround the structure and are at disposition of the guests for outdoor activity and relax. The breakfast and later a "light lunch" are also served outside on the covered terrace. The public car park is close to the accommodation.

Pietro is the most gracious host you could ask for. He will welcome you warmly with the perfect cup of delicious espresso, let you in on the secret places to visit and nurture your day beginings with great food like a true Ravello parent, alwaus asking if you'd like more. Expect fresh fruit salads, golden croissants, fresh cheese and antipasto, jams, and butter for breakfast all in large proportion to inject you with happiness! The location is perfect as it's just a breath away from the main square, offers a parking space (ideal if you're a traveling photographer) a gorgeous view of the village back and breeze aplenty under the pergola. Aside from the gentle clicking of the plates and cups in the kitchen (a sheer pleasure if you ask me) you'll only hear birds chirping, cicadas, and the occasional church bells. Spacious and comfortable Il Ducato di Ravello's rooms are traditionally tiled , sure to channel that Amalfi Coast mood, super cool and relaxing, and the beds will lull you to sleep in no time. You'll find yourselves aching to revisit and rest your tired body at this beautiful hotel.
