Reviewed By firefighterstevieAfter an enforced sabbatical (CoVID) we were finally able to return to beautiful, charming Alpbach. It is hard to explain how and why Alpbach has become a special place for us, put simply it’s lovely. We stayed in the Haus Sonnwend wonderfully hosted by Brigette and Sophie (Sofie). The guesthouse was, for us, perfect. It is in impeccable condition, spotless and homely. Our room was well catered for with comfortable beds, great shower and a huge balcony where I could sit with my first coffee of the day and breathe in that lovely mountain air. Each room has it’s own kettle and coffee machine and a range of coffee blend pods and tea bags are left at the bottom of the stairs for guests to choose from. A smart TV is also provided but, to be honest, ours was never turned on other than to check it out. We hired skis from a ski hire shop literally across the quiet street and stored them in the Haus Sonnwend ski storage and heated boot room. Should you fancy a little beverage after a day’s skiing, there’s an honesty bar beside the ski room and you can sip your choice of libation sitting on the comfortable veranda looking out towards the snow covered mountains. There is very little noise at all other the church bells ringing each morning which brings a wonderful warmth to village life. Alpbach, please don’t change. There are many fabulous restaurants close by but our personal favourites include the Postalm (a charming village bar/restaurant) and the Alphof (a hotel a little further up the hill). Finally we wish Brigette and Sophie (Sofie) continued success and we hope to return in Feb 23.

Exceptional service and superb staff
Reviewed By Culture26160001677This is a small family-run hotel with exceptional staff and service. They are helpful with everything from ordering dinner (making sure they have enough) to recommending what to do. The restaurant staff and reception staff are super friendly and go out of their way to make your stay exceptional. The pool is actually outside (heated) so it’s really something special.

Great little hotel
Reviewed By Kathryn LWe stayed here for a week on a Crystal Ski trip. What a lovely little hotel it turned out to be. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The hotel was spotlessly clean. We were half board, the food was plentiful and tasty. There were three main course options each night, one of which was always a veggie choice. You select your meals for the week on the first night. The ski locker is in another building at the top of the drive, it's well equipped with heated boot warmers and plenty of pegs for ski/ snowboard storage The ski bus stop is a short walk away, the buses run every 10 mins to Wiedersburgerhornbahn, the journey takes about 5 mins, so it is very straightforward to access the lifts. Alpbach itself is beautiful, but quiet, don't go here if you want wild parties! The PostAlm by the bus stop is a great pub for a post piste drink before dinner. There is also a good sized Spa shop a short walk away which is very handy. Overall I could not fault this hotel. We got a good deal through Crystal and had a fantastic stay. I would definitely recommend the hotel and would definitely go back again.

The staff are delightful and the food and drink are excellent! Nothing seems to be too much trouble. The ribs are superb and this time, I can confirm that the pork and dumplings are just as good!

Good value comfort, great location
Reviewed By topkapitanloved to be in the middle of the pretty Tyrolian village of Albach. House Jakober is in several chalets a few meters from each other. Room was comfortable with a nice balcony. Very clean and recently renovated. It is not 5 star luxury but offered us a very relaxing evening after many hours up the mountains. The ski bus is 3 minutes away and the ski school office is even closer. Never need a car at that location as all bars and restaurants are nearby.

Lovely apartment
Reviewed By Naomi KThis apartment is a few mins walk (uphill) from Alpbach centre and the ski bus and bars. It is a lovely spacious apartment. It was spotlessly clean and great to come back to after a day's skiing. The bedrooms are a good size and the living space is generous. There are balconies with good views to the back and front. There is a garage to keep boots and skis. Overall we were very happy with our comfortable, spacious apartment. The owner is also very friendly, helpful and available if needed.

The refurbished apartments are spectacular - they have kept the traditional nature of Alpbach, yet offered modern and clean style. The views from the balconies are simply the very best in Alpbach. Katharina is the most wonderful host. She does all she can to make your stay the very best it can be. She will recommend restaurants, activities and help to organise for you. She provides baked good for breakfast if needed. The apartments are well equipped, extremely clean and just fabulous. Highly recommended x

The accommodation is spacious, well equipped and clean and the owner can’t do enough for you .... always very friendly and caring. If you visit Alpbach be sure to stay here if you want nice accommodation at a reasonable price. Well with the stay.

A good place to stay
Reviewed By tinacrapsThe place is a bit hidden but its location is perfect. it's not in the middle of the village but just a bit outside. You can easily go by foot to the village and look for a restaurant or take a walk. The house feels very cosy, very Austian with the wood. The owners are very friendly and helpful. In the breakfast room you can eat a very good meal. Coffee is made for you, there are eggs, vegetables, bread, meat, cheese, yoghurt, ... in the afternoon you can also come to the breakfast room to drink a pint. The rooms are spacious enough, the shower is a bit small bit it's enough to shower in. The view we had was on the river and it was nice to hear it. The rooms are also being refurbished so it is possible you might have a refurbished room or a room that has to be refurbished. All in all, it was a good stay!
