Nine Dynastic Urns

Reviewed By KimGTravels - Pacific Grove, United States

Located within the Hue Citadel, between the Hiem Lam Pavilion and the Mieu Temple, they were cast between 1835-1837. The giant urns honor nine Nguyen Dynasty rulers, with the largest and most elaborate at center, dedicated to Gia Long, founder of the Nguyen Dynasty. Most definitely worth the walk to view.

Beautiful and atmosheric My Son. Well worth a visit. There is alot to see so make sure your tour allows enough time to view and remains, see the cultural show, time to spend sitting to absorb the ambiance of this special place and visit the nice museum on the way out. A tour guide will help enhance your visit here. We visited early in the morning, arriving shortly after 7am which was great as we had the site almost to ourselves. Bring water, a hat and sunscreen as it quickly gets quite hot. There is a cafe and toilets.

Hoa Lu Temple

Reviewed By JSTrip_77 - Hanoi, Vietnam

This was actually my second visit to this site - the first being more than a year ago. This was the site of the first (ancient) capital of Vietnam when it first gained its independence from China. There are two significant rebuilt temples - former palaces which became temples when each successive king died. Previously, visitors could enter the site for free but then had to pay to enter each pagoda. Now visitors pay to enter the entire site at the initial bridge and then can walk freely around the site. It's much more efficient this way...and guarantees more funding for the site. The staff does not speak any English so if you want to actually learn about the site, you'll need to hire a guide. We did not but I'd been here before with a guide.

Hoa Lu Ancient Capital

Reviewed By Ngothuys - Ninh Binh, Vietnam

I often send my children here at least once a year at the beginning of the year or summer holidays to visit and learn about the history of King Dinh and Le's life in Vietnam. The space here is spacious and airy, we can enjoy as a sunny, windy picnic and immerse in nature.
