Shanxi (Chinese: 山西; pinyin:  Shānxī; postal: Shansi) is a province of China, located in the North China region. Its one-character abbreviation is "晋" (pinyin: Jìn), after the state of Jin that existed here during the Spring and Autumn period.

Yongle Palace

Yongle Palace is the largest of all Taoist temples remaining from the Yuan Dynasty. The original monastery was built between 1247-1262. It is one of the most fantastic temples in China, and the murals within, some of which were finished in 1358. If you can give this site a listing, I shall provide a thorough write-up of this amazing place, which contains some of the finest Chinese art not located in a museum. Again, I am not an official rep of this attraction. But this is a very famous site (in China) which should be listed on TripAdvisor. (ShanxiFan)

Breathtaking site and grottos, though it is recommended to read up on the history and grottos / watch documentaries before going to grasp the uniqueness and depth of the site. Signage boards only provide limited information and the Museum is currently closed due to Covid. If you speak Mandarin, you could also respectfully ask the friendly security staff in the grottos for explanations. They are very knowledgeable and deserve credit for their willingness to share.
