Denbigh Castle

Denbigh’s finest feature is its striking triple-towered great gatehouse. Want to get a historian really excited? Mention Denbigh’s triple-towered great gatehouse. Probably one of the seven wonders of Wales. We think you’ll agree. The displayed opening times are our general pattern. Please check the Cadw website for specific times and days, including closures.

The castle sits proudly at the top of the town and is easily accessible on foot. Book your tickets in advance, only £2 a person. Friendly staff at the entrance and covid secure protocols are in place. Lovely to walk around with information boards to explain different parts of the castle and stunning views of the local area. There is also a little cafe/gift shop. Well worth it!

Well preserved Neolithic burial chamber, only about 50m from the road, just round the corner from Din Lliwig. Well worth the effort to visit.

The Roman Bath House

Reviewed By Llew22 - Swansea, United Kingdom

Absolutely worth visiting if you're in Prestatyn. A free attraction and well-preserved ruins of what was once a Roman Bath House. Today it sits in the middle of a residential cul-de-sac in its own garden. There's some great information boards about the ancient structure. Would have liked some info about how it was unearthed (was it during housing estate's construction?) If they don't already, the council could organise reenactment days during summer months? Would be perfect!

We spent 2 days exploring this beautiful and magical area and loved everything. The farming settlement at the time of the Roman occupation was incredibly well kept and one could easily imagine life there as it was then. Superb!

After a short walk on a well kept path just off the Barmouth Road, you come upon a Neolithic burial site. It is a great place to just sit and relax.
