Excellent hotel and very helpful staff

Reviewed By reviewbypaul

Stayed for two nights and would highly recommend. We had a sea view room on the 3rd floor (they have an elevator) which was immaculate and had lots of lovely touches - such as eye mask and ear plugs in case of seagulls. We asked for our room not to be cleaned but we were left a note under the door to confirm and if we required anything just to contact reception. Breakfast was very good with great selection. The restaurant was closed when we visited but we were offered a table setting up if we wanted to bring back a takeaway. Would highly recommend and stay again.

Fabulous stay

We were in the Peacock Suite for a special occasion. It was everything we'd hoped it would be. The restaurant was superb, with lovely staff. In fact most of the staff were friendly and helpful. And Portmeirion itself, of course, was enchanting. We'll definitely be back.

We stayed here recently for 2 nights booking the rooftop rooms for the second time. This is a beautiful hotel and the staff are amazing, helpful and so accommodating to whatever you need. The rooftop rooms are highly recommended as they have the most amazing views from the balcony. Breakfast is delicious with a choice of cooked and continental. A very enjoyable family break. Highly recommended.

Black Boy Inn

The Black Boy Inn is a listed building which is situated in the historic town walls of the Royal Borough of Caernarfon. The Inn is within easy walking distance to the town centre, and the famous 13th-century Castle. An old Inn dating back to 1522 and with its wooden paneling, low ceilings, and thick wooden support beams generates a cosy 'Olde Worlde' Welsh atmosphere. The Black Boy is a very busy Inn; please do not expect it to be a slow laid back hotel. It is in the centre of the tourist hub of North Wales and long wait times can be norm in middle of summer. Come and visit us in the winter season for a more laid back feeling. We now also have Black Jacks, which is another renovated building in courtyard, at rear of Inn .Black Jacks is away from the hustle of the main Inn . All suites have small kitchen area.No lift in building. Some Ground floor rooms are easy access with walk in showers , 1st floor variety of rooms as is 2nd floor. We offer 24 hour staff attendance. When you stay in any country you must wish to stay in somewhere that reflects that country ,we certainly do majority of our staff are welsh speaking and so are the owners .Meal timesSunday to Thursday: Noon until 9.00P.M. Friday and Saturday. Noon until 9.30P.M.Table reservations can be made via reception up to 6.30P.M. Table allocation after 6.30.Pm. Will be made on availability. Waiting times can vary and an indication of any delay will be conveyed to you. Short break away , amazing quality

A surprisingly pleasant little hotel. The room we had had much more space than anticipated and a massive, comfy bed ! ( I think we struck lucky with a disabled room so got the extra space) The room came with a little kitchen and fridge etc so you could take your own food and stuff without relying on local amenities. Everything was lovely and clean and the staff were friendly . Breakfast was included and dam was it good food ! If you stay in this area and need somewhere good to stay I strongly advice here ! Staff are friendly , everything is well kept and the food is delicious! Only downside is parking is charged per night or you have to park around the corner on a public car park which is free between 10pm and 10am

The beds were so comfy and again sheets etc spotlessly clean The staff here are amazing they can't do enough for you and it's obvious that they all get on so well as the atmosphere they make makes you feel comfortable and the whole place feel pleasant The food oh wow the food amazing isn't a good enough word. Welcoming Friendly Staff make up for shortfalls

Reviewed By lil_miss_brum

Staff are excellent, can't do enough to help. Room was fine, comfortable for a business stay. Prior to stay, email received to confirm shortage of staff and to not expect same service as usual. Bit of a shame. Rooms not being turned around during stay should have been optional, not by default. At £100 a night, having the tea and coffee tray refilled automatically should certainly be a minimum expectation. Not give reception yet another task to manage. A lot of menu items in the restaurant were not available on the first 2 (of 3) nights of our stay - we ate out on night 3. Location was good in terms of accessing Penrhos and Trearddur Bay for a change of scenery after work/alternative restaurant options.
