Modern hotel with great breakfast

Reviewed By arkadyku

Quiet location (5 minutes car drive from the old city), free parking, excellent wifi, spacious room, modern room furniture and equipment, great breakfast, lifts. The only problem - window in the room cannot be open. It was locked for some reason. If you want really quiet room, ask the room with a window to backyard, because this hotel very close to the city road with pretty busy traffic.

The system is probably quite nice in the high season, but immediately unusable afterwards. No animation, everything is noisily put together and packed away. The supermarket only had a few cans left and the one nearby, like all shops, was closed. Two people have to pay € 50 per week for a club card that does not include any services. 10, - € cleaning and 30 € for 2 days lounger on the beach. An impudence. Wellness area is still being built, the complex is only about 10 years old, so you can't expect that. After the main season, the facility should close immediately, that would be the best for everyone.

Nice looking hotel but avoid it except if you like to sleep in a discotheque !!! We were on second floor and music was so loud to we could barely speak together. We complained at midnight at the reception but they just said sorry but there is a party going on…. Nice but I don’t care, I just wanted to sleep !!! Clearly not the place to stay in Gallipoli.

Worst food experience during Italy trip

Reviewed By 462yb

On the road there’s a sign saying: ‘restaurant, trattoria, pizzeria’. This is not true. When we asked for a table they hesitated and gave us one. After he seated us we heard the waiter yelling at the chef in Italian ‘there’s another two....’ on a not very welcoming way. For the food we had choice of 2 types of pasta (primi) and 2 types of fish as a secondi. For the wine there was a choice of red or White House wine. No wine list while we saw a a wine fridge / display with many different wines. The waiter told us the house wines were local wines, which they weren’t. They were just cheap wines from a large wine distributor in Italy. They charged us €20 for a bottle. While our dinner was served we heard another table complaining about the bill they received (they don’t tell prices when they tell what limited choice there is). The food itself was far from special (this is an understatement!) and the service terrible. The price is far to high (there were 3 of 5 tables complaining). We spent 4 weeks traveling though Italy/Puglia but this was by far our worst food experience. So my advice: don’t go here for dinner!!

Immaculate!

Reviewed By FallonKaye

We stayed here for 3 nights and honestly everything was just perfect! The architecture is immaculate, everything is spotless and super clean. The location is fantastic it is only about an 8 minute walk to the bars, restaurants and marina area where there is SO much choice on where to eat. We also hired a car and we were about an hours drive from most things. The spa was one of the best I have been to - lots of different areas and very chilled. The massage was lovely too. A lot of reviews saying the staff are not friendly I completely disagree! They were all polite and helpful if we needed anything. Breakfast was mainly pastries, meats and cheeses but was delicious! You cannot serve yourself due to Covid although that wasn’t a problem. The room has everything you needed however I would have liked a pool view not a brick wall! and the bed & pillows are hard - new mattresses are needed. Sound is an issue too you can hear other guests flushing the toilet or in the shower early in the morning. This is my reason for not giving it 5 stars! I would definitely stay here again!

Helpful and gracious staff; lovely accommodations, great location

Reviewed By Happiness72482

We had a most delightful stay at Grand Hotel Terme. The manager, Giovanni, could not have been any more helpful and hospitable. I had contacted him several times prior to our trip to clarify directions, amenities, etc, and he always responded promptly (even on the weekend!). He was waiting for our arrival and escorted us to our accommodations. We stayed at the newly renovated Palazzo Novecento that is part of the hotel. Giovanni made sure that we knew how to use all the appliances, faucets and air conditioning (which can sometimes be tricky!). Our one-bedroom with living room and included kitchenette was perfect. Quality details in the renovation: a fantastic induction stove that we wish we had at home, a large refrigerator/freezer, microwave, pots and pans, dishes and utensils. Well stocked which was perfect for us: we alternated cooking our meals and dining out. The bathroom was large with a fantastic shower--nice hot water with excellent water pressure! And the windows were triple paned so no outdoor noise! And the beds/pillows are super comfortable (would love to have to that mattress at home). The hotel is attached to the Terme of Margherita di Savoia, so the location is perfect. Also beachfront. We made sure to take a 3 mile walk along the lovely, soft sand beach. We'd love to return in the summer for swimming! We had really wanted to see the famed salt flats and flamingos but discovered that it was too far to walk. No problem: Giovanni (on his own time!) organized a private tour of the salt pans and bird sanctuary with driver Nino and guide Salvatore. Most excellent! One of the best tours I have ever participated in. A real surprise--a truly delightful one--was that they also took us to an agritourismo farm with buffalo, cows, hens, ducks, and a dog and a cat. And a herd of fun goats running down the street to wait for their farmer to open the gate to their other pasture. What fun! And to cap it all, Nino brought out plate after plate of various cheeses, made locally by the farmers. Six cheeses in fact! My husband was a happy man. We had to buy some to take home as the cheese could not have been any fresher--not when we met the buffalo right there! As a travel agent, I have stayed at many hotels around the world, but never have I had a more enjoyable stay. Giovanni is an excellent hotel manager--you can see how much he cares about his guests. I have stayed at 'luxury' hotels who could learn about hospitality management from Giovanni. In all, it was a memorable stay in every way, and we hope to return! Anne and Keith

Quiet, Comfy Resort on the outskirts of Town

Reviewed By TravelFoodLive

The hotel is really nice but it’s the people that make this place really nice! All of the staff were extremely welcoming and attentive. We stayed here for four nights while celebrating a destination wedding. The hotel is a short bike ride or cab ride to get into town which makes it quieter than the hustle and bustle of downtown Porto Cesareo. They have arrangements with a private beach club and regular transport to the beach which we really appreciated when we wanted beach versus pool. Our rooms were nice size and the beds were very comfortable - the only issue was our air conditioner struggled to lower the temperature in our room.
