Great vacation
Reviewed By David GThis is our second time there. After 2 years, 2 of the waiters even remembered my name. They were so kind. Willy, Domingo, Lesis, Nathalie, Dani, and Moreno were great. They all went so far out of their way to make our trip memorable. Especially Willy and Domingo. They are like family to us. So kind and welcoming. Such great people. We will for sure go back. The beach was clean and the water was calm. The food was good. The drinks were made right. They were weak nor were they over the top. You will feel like you are at home there. The rooms were super clean. It is very family friendly.

Amazing family holiday

After over 2 years waiting ( due to a pandemic) it was well worth the wait. Everything about this place is wonderful The hard working staff and beautiful food and drinks ( cocktails and champagne by the pool will be missed). I wish I could name everyone we encountered but here are afew special people who made our stay memorable.... Bienvenido at spice Market buffet ( so welcoming professional and caring) and miguel. Armando Bell Boy such a lovely man. Evelyn Garcia and Wendi Mercedes in the family pool bar who work tirelessly in unbearable heat. Always happy and welcoming. Louis de la Cruz waiter in the Italian. The entertainment team were incredibly hard working. Loved the beach and pool zumba. Generally staff were all pleasant and welcoming. AMAZING Vacation
Reviewed By Swe3ty1Absolutely book this resort and location!! From the moment we arrived everything was Paradise. We booked a premium suite and to my surprise it included Butler services. Our Butler’s Luiding and Victor Val at Hilton La Romana Family Resort were so accommodating and pleasant. They were on top of our needs every minute of every day. They truly were the icing to the cake. They had prearranged all our activities, dinners, and had beverages brought to us wherever we were. The resort alone is breathtaking, you would be fine never leaving and fully enjoying all it has to offer. The location is perfect and the views are picturesque. I can’t say enough about the entire staff, everyone is friendly, the bell boy’s Armando and Michael happily greet you on arrival and send off and make sure your luggage arrives promptly and safely. The food was delicious, the reservation restaurants with different cuisines were great and the buffet had so much to choose from and didn’t disappoint. If you travel with young kids, they will enjoy the water park that has a lazy river and water slides, and the kids club has constant activities. My kids begged to go EVERYDAY. The girls that manage it do an amazing job, face painting and dancing. Definitely one of our top vacations. We will be booking again.

Reviewed By Bebuchi22This property can be so amazing, but they chose not to be. The staff is not friendly, the rooms need updating specially the beds they are hard. I paid for an upgraded room, and the view was ok. I should have been amazing. If you are going to visit this hotel, be prepared to be disappointed. There is no music by the pool unless you request it, the snack bar has not many snacks and the nightly entertainment is non- existent.

Reviewed By Garridoyp88First time in DR with my family of 4 and this resort was pretty good for our first time. I’ll point out a few negative things that could use improvement: The wifi is horrible, the front desk staff was not the greatest at times, and the buffet food La Yuca (and this is us being a little picky because we work in food service) could be kept a little hotter, and the fact that the pool closes at 6 is a little early. The A/C was also not cool enough with how hot it is outside. Our roomkey did not work and we had to walk to the lobby about 3 times only to find out the door had low battery. The positives did outweigh the negatives though: The entertainment was so much fun, Daddy Cool and his entertainment crew were amazing, made sure everyone was included in the fun. They had dance lessons, zumba and other activities by the pool. We also enjoyed the silent party at La Papaya bar. Now, the evening staff at La Papaya, really made me and my family feel so welcome and almost like royalty, Mayelin, Ulises, Brayan, Anjel and Arian (mis “Amigos para siempre)”really really hit it out of the park with us. Also I do have to day all of the food service staff in the dominicus cafe and in the buffet were very friendly. Our room was in a good location, right near the pool and beach. We had a massage at the spa and the ladies were amazing!!!!! Overall we did enjoy our stay and would love to see some of the feedback taken and return in the future.

Better than expected
Reviewed By Mysteriously_MCJust returned from the resort and was pleasantly surprised about our stay there. The hotel grounds are beautiful, lush vegetation and beautifully designed with illuminated paths at night that make it very pleasant to walk around the resort. Many surveillance cameras all over the resort which made us feel safe as well. Security guards also present on the beach & inside the hotel grounds to prevent the "family side" guests from coming to the adult side. The service was excellent and the staff really make a difference to help make your stay enjoyable. The resort was very clean and there were workers & gardeners working hard every day to keep it this way. ROOM: The room was very nice with enough closet space & shelves. Coffee machine, safe, iron & ironing board, bathrobes & slippers were also provided. Mini fridge stocked with water bottles, Coke, 7-UP and 2 beers. Individual portions of peanuts & Oreo cookies were also provided. Open concept bathroom to the room itself but a privacy glass door on both the shower & bathroom itself proved efficient. Double shower with both rain head and hand held showerhead on each end with good water pressure and never ran out of hot water. There is shampoo, conditioner, body wash & body lotion provided. Double sinks with enough counter space and hair dryer also provided. Bed was comfortable and extra blankets available in the closet if needed. The AC worked really well and wasn't too noisy. Nice balcony with 2 chairs & table and the best part: a drying clothesline! FOOD There are a few restaurants on the adult side only: Tao Cat (Asian), Siwichi (Peruvian), BLoved (seafood) and Thalassa. Toscana (Italian) is shared with the family side but has a designated seating area for the adults only side (which was a nice touch). There were also 2 beach restaurants/snack bars: La Isla & Sea Blue cafe. There are 2 beach bars, one pool bar & one lobby bar. We found the food to be better than our expectations. Most restaurants are a la carte for breakfast, lunch & dinner. You need to book your dinner reservations in advance (easy process on your phone) and there is no buffet other than breakfast on the adults side. Breakfast & lunch are walk-ins first come first served. Some dishes were really good and worth repeating. Portions were fine, we never went hungry. BEACH The beach is very nice, soft sand, clear turquoise water, no seaweed. There is a bit of a dip when you get in the water and that small area has some rocks, depending on where you get in from the beach. The water was nice & warm. Almost no beach vendors that harass you. You can go for long walks and walk past other hotels. We found that the Catalonia resort had by far the best beach of them all. If you want chairs in the shade, yes you have to get up earlier. We never had any trouble finding any chairs in the sun but the ones under the shade and palapas were taken early. The adult side is set back from the beach but we never found this to be an issue. It is a lovely walk through the resort to get to the beach and there is also a straight path on the side of the property that goes from the front of the hotel to the beach where the shuttle also runs regularly should anyone wish to not walk over. There are bars & restaurants on the beach so very easy to not have to go back and forth if you wish to stay by the beach all day. The beach attendants work tirelessly all day to keep everything clean, from raking the fallen leaves from trees to picking up empty cups/drinks to sweeping the sand off the boardwalk & bar area and scrubbing the chairs & side tables. Overall this is a very nice resort. However, there are things that could improve to make it even better: - Having designated areas for smokers. It is astounding the amount of people who smoke everywhere (beach, lobby, beach bar, hotel grounds) and very unpleasant for non-smokers. - Banning portable music devices/speakers at the pool & beach. There already is music playing on the speakers from the pool & beach bar areas but some people think having their own music playing louder than the resort's music is a good idea. It is completely disrespectful to other guests not to mention extremely annoying when you are trying to relax and all you hear is loud music from different sources at the same time. Wear your ear buds if you want to listen to your own music. - The shower tiles could use an update. There were moldy spots on the shower floor and the wear & tear was evident. - A extra selection of beer would be nice. Only beer available anywhere on the resort was Presidente. Not everyone likes this beer.... - Consistency on menu items. We ordered the same dishes more than once based on how good they were the first time around. However, some of them were completely different even though they were identical on the menu....Not sure if if it was a lack of ingredients on hand or different chef but nonetheless they were not the same dishes. - A buffet on the adult side only for all meals would be a great addition. When you pay top $$ to be on an adult only resort, the last thing you want is to eat with screaming/crying kids who put their hands all over the food in the buffet instead of using utensils to serve themselves.... Having said that, it wouldn't prevent me from going again but there is certainly room for improvement....

Reviewed By BHolfordxRoom- Our first room, was not very clean at all, there was bird poo all over our balcony, and also a wasp nest. The railings going upto the room were covered in bird poo making it impossible to hold on. We moved room as it wasn’t clean, and it was also on the top floor, and Iv got mobility issues and couldn’t walk up that many stairs everyday. Our second room, there was a constant smell of sewage everytime you walked in and the lock on the door was locking us out of the room everyday, they only decided to change the locks 2 days before we left, anyone could’ve walked into our room. My partner had to jump over the balcony to let us in, which meant that the cleaners had left the balcony door unlocked. The food and drinks- don’t really get much option with the food, and what was server wasn’t very nice.The rice didn’t seem as though it was cooked properly and the rest of the food was dry and some of the things had a strange taste. The drinks tasted strange, half of the time the machines were not working and they would put warm bottles of pop out. A lot of the time me and my partner would go the on-site shop to buy drink because the drinks at the restaurant and bars were horrible. The staff- I thought the staff were really ignorant, miserable and rude. The staff weren’t very polite towards the English. It only seemed like they were nice to the Spanish speaking people. The only polite staff in the hotel were the people in the viva shop. Sometimes we put on the door that we didn’t want the room cleaned, but I had to keep ringing reception for fresh towels and toilet roll, sometimes it wouldn’t come until the next day. I will not be staying this hotel again. We payed a lot of money to stay here just to be treated like we’re invisible and for the hotel not to be as expected.

What a disappointment
Reviewed By misrudiI usually never write bad reviews but this one deserves it. The place was run down but the worst was the food. I will Never go back to DR. This experience truly left a bad taste in my mouth! The only good thing was the beach. Their Brazilian steak house was an absolute joke. Their buffet, well I mainly ate pizza and pineapple because the rest was terrible. The only person that was genuinely a nice person was the receptionist, Angel. I couldn’t wait to come home. What a disappointment
