Reviewed By Wendy SThey offer room by 12th "o'clock" (¥150 hourly rate) which seemed sketchy. It is a pretty good location if you want to stay in this town. Don't get a room on the street side of the hotel, it was loud all night long so neither my roomie or I slept well. The room/bathroom was ok. We had dinner in the restaurant, which was fine but the table wasn't very clean. The breakfast was basic Chinese foods (porridge, steamed buns, noodles, and hardboiled eggs). They brought white bread, jam, fried eggs, and "coffee" to our table so they were really trying to make us feel welcomed,

Best in the Town
Reviewed By Ale COur guide informed us that this hotel was the best in the ancient town of ZhenYuan, and is the hotel for major meetings and conventions in the area. It's also the tallest building in the area. As humidity is high in the area, the rooms tend to smell of damp and mould. However, if they are aired (open windows and door) for a while, the smells would dissipate. The yellow carpet looked a little worn and tired, but the bed was comfortable for the night. There is a stack of magazines for your reading pleasure in the room. Breakfast is in the hall across the hotel lobby. The compound from lobby to restaurant is lovingly landscaped, with huge jars of wine along the ledges of the water features. Breakfast selection is rather limited. Bring your own coffee or tea.

So just for that, I highly recommend this hotel, despite a few flaws, such as: the window doesn't shut very well, the curtain is too thin to stop the light, the bathroom is small... Good bedding anyway, and nice friendly staff.

Such a Relaxing Place to Unwind
Reviewed By CDubChinaThe Shisheji Wei Hotel is one of the best guest houses I have ever stayed. The decoration of the guest house is traditional Chinese style. The boss, Mr. Chen, is one of the most friendly and talkative hosts I’ve met. He and his wife opened this guest house several years ago and their attention to detail is what makes this place so special. The guest house is sparkling clean and very comfortable. Mr. Chen makes the guests feel comfortable by paying attention to details. He has Chinese traditional music playing and incense burning in the main sitting area and always has hot tea available for the guests. The guest house is located in Zhenyuan, which is an ancient town located on a river. Zhenyuan is a great place to visit if you want to relax and get away from the big cities. A few notes to pay attention to, though. This guest house is located in the mountain, and you need to be able to climb stairs for 7-10 minutes. The guest house isn’t accessible by car, so you will need to call Mr. Chen to meet you at the parking area in the village and he will lead you to the guest house. I suggest bringing a backpack rather than a suitcase as it will be easier to climb the village stairs to the guest house. Also, Mr. Chen doesn’t speak English, so if you are a foreigner, speaking Chinese is necessary if you want to communicate with the host. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay somewhere relaxing. This guest house is a great place to unplug, relax, and reflect. I will definitely come back here in the future.

Reviewed By Sue1974My experience was great from beginning to end! I contacted the hotel owner - Yang Li - by Wechat initially (as this is much easier when you don't speak Chinese). We agreed which room I would take and she organised to come and pick us up from the station (extremely useful as we arrived after dark). She was there waiting for us with a smile and took us back to our amazing room. The room is extremely tastefully decorated, with a very comfie bed and amazing views. I was so glad we paid a little extra for the Mahjong suite - it was truly worth it. Whilst not advertised as a non-smoking room, the Mahjong was a non smoking room with not a hint of musty old smoke smell. I had initially been concerned that it may be noisy here as it's right in the centre of the old town and on the banks of the river, but it was really quiet - and after 10:30pm you couldn't hear a pin drop. If we didn't have things we wanted to do we could have sat at the window looking out at the view all day long! Yang Li helped us out a lot during our stay - and was very patient as I asked her so many questions with the help of a translation app! I'd certainly recommend staying here if you're going to be in Zhenyuan. And, I would certainly recommend including Zhenyuan in your itinerary if you're going to be visiting Guizhou.

Stunning hotel in an ancient town
Reviewed By Julie LYou feel extremely relax staying in this traditional but modern, clean and comfortable hotel. The view from this hotel room is amazing and it is like looking into a postcard. i recommend to stay here for2 or 3 days and discover the ancient town, enjoy the good food and the romantic bar areas along the lake.

Erg leuk hotel
Reviewed By Ben LHotel Old House zit temidden van de oude stad. Wel wat toeristisch maar erg leuk boetiek hotel. Eigenaar spreekt prima Engels en behulpzaam. Zeker een aanrader als men voor een kort verblijf hier is. Zit tegenover bus station dus mensen die met bus reizen ook erg gemakkelijk. Ontbijt buiten seizoen zelf regelen.

Peace, quiet, great river views
Reviewed By chaufishWe stayed in a river-side room with a private terrace overlooking the river. The room was comfortable with hot/cold temperature adjustment controls, kettle and hair dryer. From the outside, it would have been difficult for us to find, were it not for the taxi driver who brought us from the train station, a distance away. The area is quiet and restful, with water views which made our stay very pleasant. No English was spoken so communication was limited for us.

Reviewed By Mimmo225Camera doppia al sesto piano senza ascensore. Veramente piccola e calda ma per fortuna c'è il condizionatore. Letti comodi, larghi e puliti. Assenza di armadio (date le dimensioni della stanza era impossibile metterlo) per cui i bagagli restano per terra. Bagno piccolo con turca e doccia sopra la turca ed un finestrino senza zanzariera e senza infissi. Acqua e prodotti da bagno in omaggio. TV, bollitore elettrico, aria condizionata, wi-fi free. Hotel con doppio ingresso (sulla strada e sul fiume) poco distante dal ponte che porta alla via dello shopping e quasi adiacente a tutti i ristorantini sul lungofiume e ovviamente dotato anche di camere più spaziose. Personale molto cordiale. Non avendo paura di fare le scale probabilmente ci torneremo visto l'ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo.
