I wish I could stay here forever

I can't believe that I've found this peaceful and quiet place just a few minutes from busy Argassi. The view from the balcony makes me wonder if I'm dreaming? But it's all real-the intensely blue sea, the scentful Mediterranean vegetation around and blurry mountains that I notice in the distance. The birds are performing a concert 24/7, according to the schedule - solo pieces in the morning, energizing modern bits during the day and a calming symphony in the evening. Tiny lizards seem to understand my urge to relax when they're noiselessly crossing the garden during my nap. But it's time to open my eyes,in fact I've got duties, things to do,you know? There are turtles (tortoises) that I have an appointment with and it would be unkind to make them waiting. Luckily, there is a trip from the nearby Argassi. There is also another one,to the shipwreck beach and a bus trip to the winery. The wine in the winery is too good to go there by car as a driver and not be allowed to drink it. Actually can Tesla drive you home if you're drunk? I'm pretty sure Spiros (the host) knows the answer to this question as his knowledge of things, places and people is as wide as the panoramic seaview from our balcony in this picturesque villa. I forget to count calories when reaching for another homemade biscuit. I spill a bit of my coffee on the huge map that Spiros brought, both coffee and the map. The coffee mark won't be the only one on the map though. Spiros will add many more when sharing his secret knowledge of places and restaurants worth visiting. I'd wish this review could be longer and more in depth, but I really need to grab my swimsuit and towel and head to the nearby Kaminia Beach now. I'll write some more later on,unless I throw my phone to the sea and decide to stay in Zakhyntos forever.

End of the summer season 2021

I got mixed feelings about this place. On positive note the service in restaurant was great throughout our stay (we were on HB) and in less than an hour upon early arrival we were offered interim room. On not so positive when we came in at 0730am we were told to cover for breakfast (€8 pp) which in all honesty was quite basic and upon check out offered only some Nescafé sachets (booked through TUI as package tour). First night we discovered place was engulfed with mosquitos which were really annoying at night. Although the hotel itself is located in very picturesque part of island without a car it is not easily accessible. It is quite though.

Our welcome to Alavastros The minute you enter, the delicate smell of Jasmin touches your nose. We had two weeks of peace and quietness. We'd like to thank the dear family of Alavastros. Before deciding, we did some searching on the internet to find a good hotel for a 2 weeks stay. There where many to choose from, but Alavastros kept popping up. You're in a good spot in Zakynthos here. A rental car is a must in this area. You'll be close to some beautiful beaches, some historical sights and plenty of hikes. We had contact via WhatsApp. The response is quick and informed. You have a specific question about where to find this or that? She will look into it and gives good tips. Breakfast is brought in your room. And, ;-) We gained weight. GOOD breakfast. You can cook but we didn't. Good supplied kitchen but a bit outdated. The garden is a nice and tranquil place, and as mentioned, with a soft Jasmin smell. Lingering in one of the Hammocks is heaven. There're a couple of places where one can sit and quietly read. You see and hear animals. What can one expect in a green surrounding like that? Goats, dogs, insects, chicken, donkey, peacock, lots of birds and an occasional cat. Rocky is the only animal you'll see in the courtyard. Small dog of the family. Friendly little guy. Give him some ham, and he'll be your new best friend. There's 1, 'one' floor apartment. There's one step to get in. So beware if you're hindered in your mobility. The bedroom is small but it didn't bother us. We're used to a waterbed, so we're spoiled. The bed had a reasonable soft and comfy mattress and slept really good. There're a few drawers to put your stuff. The tv works but we didn't have time to watch television. Good mosquito nets and shutters on the outside too. Felt safe to sleep with the windows open and no airco on. One day we had a small problem with warm water. We texted and there seemed to be a power problem on the island. It got fixed rather quick. You have a small private garden at the back. Comfy enough if you need 'alone' time. Umbrella for shading. You even have a drying rack but no pins. The lady of the house, can wash for you too. You have to dry it yourself. Friendly neighbors. Important too and that they are not fed up with the tourists, like you sometimes notice in touristic places. Good WiFi the whole time. Garden too. The road Alavastros is at, is the only connection between the most southern town of Alavastros and Zante, the main capital. Plenty of places to dine and in different price ranges, The best place we kept going back, and had the best food around, was Restaurant Agnanti. It's up the road towards Zante, 10 minute walk. It's a family run restaurant with excellent food. Short walk and partly with a pedestrian side walk. Argassi is close by, and a small busy 'loud' town. You have a few supermarkets there. Day trips offers enough. It's advised to shop around. Would we go back? Definitely.
