Visited a couple of weeks ago and ordered some meat rolls at the bar they duly arrived accompanied with a small bowl of soup, a Yorkshire pud and a bowl of gravy! Was very impressed with this so returned a week later and ordered the rolls again, this time we only received the rolls and a bowl of soup! Upon querying this the reason was we were told that it was a new chef and he had been sending too much out! ...pretty weak excuse if you ask me!!!Hi Lee,Thanks for leaving us your honest feedback, we appreciate it so we can learn from our mistakes and improve on them. when ordering the sandwichs it gives you three options what you would like (salad, bowl of soup or yorkshire and gravy) maybe this is the confusion here.i hope you have a nice day anyways and hope this doesnt put you off coming back.RegardsLuke

This is the place to go if you want a good Cafe breakfast on the posher side! Meaning your breakfast isn't cheap rubbery sausages dripping in oil.For this you do pay a little bit more for the quality of the food, which is also cooked nicely. I especially enjoy the herby potatoes that come with the breakfasts.The only downside is that it is so popular there is usually a wait time for a table...I think it is sort of a tourist destination in the area, there are lots of students and visitors to the UK that visit. We found that after us some other people that were waiting for a seat were having to for ages because tables were filled with some tourists who had finished breakfast and drinks but were sat chatting! I suppose this is just an English etiquette thing to not overstay when other people are waiting. I can't fault the food or drinks at all, and the service is always friendly.

Having decided to go for a walk, we came across this fantastic pub or gastropub to be more precise. The feel of a country pub is still very present with an amazing Thai Food menu.This is definitely a place to visit for both the food and the pub atmosphere. Yet another pub that is no longer really a pub but a very good restaurant.Very large menu with traditional pub fare, plus some different meals and a small daily specials boarb. Spacious interior with nice spacing between tables, efficient and friendly staff. Starters consisted of a Greek salad, very good and as a Greek salad should be - no leaves! I had duck pancakes, these were really, really nice and I highly recommend them. Mains were salmon en croute, very good, crispy pastry surrounding a nice piece of salmon with mushrooms. The tarragon sauce was really good and the accompiaments of sauteed potatoes and mixed veg rounded of the meal nicely.I had scampi, sauteed and veggies very nice standard pub classic. My only grouse is all the meals seem to come with the same mixed veg, cauli, broccolli, carrots and peas. For me I would some extra choices as side dishes. No room for puds - as usual.We will be back.

This is the 3rd year running we held our event at 'The Jolly" and once again their welcome was second to none. We were a party of 30 and everyone said how great the food was. I would thoroughly recommend this venue for any occasion. Brilliant!

Visited here after a long break in visits and was very impressed with the quality of the food and staff friendliness. It was lovely to see it busy as well. The hanging baskets are fabulous as well and we look forward to a return visit. (Very soon I hope)

Just had a Burger this time. Burger fine, home made,but served on a slate.I know that is the modern way of doing things this way but the food goes all over the place.Decent bottle of Spanish Wine.

Family meal, so we were quite a large group but service was as good as ever, very efficient and as always friendly.My pasta dish was generous to say the least and the garlic bread (as a side order) perfect.Wonderful open kitchen so you can see whatâs going on, the chefs work hard to ensure orders arrive promptly, but we never feel rushed.Deserving to be No 1 in the area here on Trip Advisor!

Whilst the food was good a birthday meal with friends was ruined by an issue with our waitress that was not addressed satisfactorily when raised at the time. A subsequent email has not received a reply. We will not be returning and feel aggrieved at paying nearly £100 for an unpleasant experience. Dear LizH27Thank you for choosing our restaurant for your birthday dinner. I apologise that you preferred not to be served by one of our food & beverage team members , who has been on the team for nearly 2 years now. I am aware that when you requested to be served by another member of the team shortly after being seated , the assistant food & beverage manager personally offered to move your party to a different area of the restaurant, as the individual you mysteriously took a disliking to, was in charge of the section where you were seated.. You declined this offer and decided to remain in the same area and gave no indication thereafter of any concerns , nor have we received any email from you since. We are pleased you enjoyed your birthday meal , which for 5 guests at under £ 100 represents good value.RegardsHotel Management
