The Northern Cape (Afrikaans: Noord-Kaap; Tswana: Kapa Bokone) is the largest and most sparsely populated province of South Africa. It was created in 1994 when the Cape Province was split up. Its capital is Kimberley. It includes the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park, part of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, an international park shared with Botswana. It also includes the Augrabies Falls and the diamond mining regions in Kimberley and Alexander Bay. The Namaqualand region in the west is famous for its Namaqualand daisies. The southern towns of De Aar and Colesberg, in the Great Karoo, are major transport nodes between Johannesburg, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. In the northeast, Kuruman is known as a mission station and also for its artesian spring, the Eye of Kuruman. The Orange River flows through the province, forming the borders with the Free State in the southeast and with Namibia to the northwest. The river is also used to irrigate the many vineyards in the arid region near Upington.

I love a spur! The food is great and I hardly ever have a bad experience but sometimes your luck runs out. Ordered a draft but they had no pint glasses so it had to be split in two 300ml glasses, what? The coldrink was flat, the garlic bread starter was so cold that the garlic butter wasn't even melted and when you order a sirloin steak but they bring you this chewy piece of rump I just about had enough. Last week we attended the Del Rio Spur in Kuruman that we have frequently visited in the past. They have improved quite a bit but this experience was Very Disappointing. It was a Monday and the Burger Special day, thus the plave was very full. The waiters were out of their comfort zone due to being to few on shift and service was poor. We were 4 adults with 2 babies and one todler and our starters were burnt(crumbed mushrooms) and we left after 3 hours without enjoying our meal as we have not received it yet. They gave it as a take-away but they will NOT see us soon due to this shocking poor food and poor service experience.Dear dreyern74,Thank you for taking the time to review our Del Rio Spur Restaurant. The staff at the restaurant is friendly and effective. The food is the best quality. Outside is a playpen for the young, and this gives the parents a moment for themselves. "Chicken's" laughter is contagious and he is making every person at home. This restaurant is clean, very clean. Always a pleasure to make a stop here.....

While I kept my expectations low given the restaurant in a small northern cape Town still I managed to be disappointed. I had the most overcooked chicken ever. Barely edible steak was tough. Did not remind of traditional BBQ from Texas, US. Drinks are plentiful though!

Sunday 12 August 2018, Stayed overnight in Kimberley and the receptionist recommended the Spur. Waiter friendly and helpfull. Food was delivered in good timing. Excellent quality and portion was good. Husband had a T-Bone and he was very happy with the way it was prepared. We were travelling through Uppington and stopped at the Desert Wolf Spur for a quick lunch. Standard Spur décor and menu which makes you feel at home there. My lovely wife and I had a sauce burger each, one with mushroom sauce and the other with the peri peri sauce. Both were well prepared and tasty. The service was good, even with a trainee waitress. Our only concern was that it took nearly 45 minutes to prepare our food, which is not acceptable.Dear Les P,Thank you so much for taking the time to send us your feedback regarding the waiting time.
