The central market or the fish of a city is always mandatory stop. Porto Alegre is no different. Building in 1869, has suffered fires and revolutions, but keep standing, serving the population. And one of its greatest traditions and attractions is the Gambrinus Restaurant. For the site is a return to the past, finding some ghosts around there circulam.E for the tourist is a way to understand the culture of our people, through cooking. River fish (the city is the margin of an estuary), the gaucho cooking dishes like beef jerky or, in winter, the best mocotó the Rio Grande. It simple without being simplistic

Although the restaurant is a little tucked away, I think it is worth effort to seek it out. I had an excellent Japanese meal, while my steak-loving friend said that his steak was the best he had eaten during his stay in Porto Alegre. That was high praise indeed from such a steak-loving man in a meat-obsessed city, and country (or at least I found it so)!

This fabulous restaurant is a treasure. I never would have found it on my recent visit to Porto Alegre without the the local knowledge of my dear Brazilian friend. This reminds me so much of small trattorias I have stumbled on in Italy and to find it in Brazil was a great surprise. Atelier de Massas is Old School Italian in the best possible way. It features superb pasta and fresh salads along with a deep wine list featuring the excellent wines of Southern Brazil and a fantastic appetizers in an open display on ice (you have to see this to understand). The wait staff was gracious and knowledgeable. We had such a good meal here amid the cozy ambiance of a well-loved family restaurant that I cannot say enough positive things about it. Not to be missed

Coco Bambu Porto Alegre

Reviewed By WernerDeck

The Coco Bambu is one of the best addresses in Porto Alegre to enjoy a very good fish or seafood dinner. The service staff is friendly and very diligent. After the obligatory Caipirinha cocktail made with Cachaca Coco Bambu, I had as first starter the Couvert Especial (marinated shrimps, sun-dried tomatoes with freshly seasoned minas cheese, grilled tomatoes with fried garlic, and eggplant, salmon ceviche and cheese breads). It comes with seasoned garlic toast. The second appetizer was a very delicious Costelinha de Tambaqui (crispy tambaqui ribs). The main dish was an excellent prepared Sirigado ao Forno (Roasted Sirigado fillet with bell peppers, tomato, onion, carrot, potato, baked garlic and parsley). Side dish was rice, farofa and banana. The Patagonia Amber Lager craft beer and also the 2017 D’Alamel by Lapostolle Sauvignon Blanc white wine from Chile were very quaffable and good companions to the dishes. An Espresso combined with a Grappa was a good completion of the nice dinner. To have fish and seafood specialties at the Coco Bambu is a good choice and worth to come again.Ficamos felizes com sua satisfação com nossas entradas, bebidas, pratos e nosso atendimento. Estamos trabalhando diariamente para lhe atender com qualidade. Aguardamos sua volta e agradecemos por nos avaliar. Obrigado
