It was probably the rain or perhaps a slow Sunday night, but the food was amazing.The service impeccable and they spoke English, understood what exactly was desired from them.Great value for money and and the Prawn Pasta is something to write home about. You recognise the situation? You make a stop over and decide to sleep in a decent yet inexpensive hotel (IBIS Como in our case). Then, you look for a good restaurant nearby. We found l'Osteria del Pettirosso on Tripadvisor and the comments seemed all right.We went for fish and had 2 antipasti, 2 secondi and 2 desserts. Topped with water and an excellent wine. 109 Euro was well spent on a gorgeous meal, beautifully presented.Portions are not very large, yet more than enough; you leave the table completely happy.Whilst we enjoyed the food, we loved the wine as well: a Roero Arneis of Giovanni Almondo (Bricco delle Ciliegie) at an incredibly decent price.The restaurant is divided into a couple of smaller rooms which makes that it is quite intimate and not noisy at all (we are in Italy!). We were seated close to the kitchen and the whole evening we saw plates being served, all of them equally beautiful.Although we had never been there before, the owner (cook) and the lady of the house as well as the waiter took time to have a chat with us.We will definitely return there for more discoveries.

My husband and I travel a lot and have eaten at many, many restaurants. Ristorante Tradate provided one of the best meals we have ever had. Anna and her sister oversee the management and cooking in this incredible restaurant - you should make your way to Tradate just to eat here! We can't wait to go back!

In this region I only knew of two options to have sea food! Como or Milano. I just went to this nice restaurant to experience the most amazing sea food ever! Great food, the owners heading the service! The wine of the house delicious and crispy!

Excellent little restaurant, very close to Just Hotel (5 min by car) where you are treated like family. If you understand some Italian it helps to understand the chef when he explains to you how he will prepare your meal and reccomend their specialities, otherwise the food talks for itself.

Lunch on a Sunday. The place is very tastefully designed with a lot of little eye-candies here and there. Service is highly professional. The noodles with cacao combined with thin slices of octopus are out of this world. The assortment of crude fish tartar is amazing and top quality. Salad with warm lobster underneath and raviolis stuffed with mushrooms: delicious. The Vanesso (a special breed of beef) and the Patenegra cotelette are almost too much. Great place to enjoy a classy experience. We'll be back for sure.

A somewhat hidden jewel in the nice town of Appiano Gentile. Chefs Emilio and Matteo prepared for you a fabulous menu, rich with ingredients, flavors, aromas and more to truly celebrate this Mediterranean feast for the palate and for the eyes. Very well prepared, served with love and attentive care, in a nice environment, the two chefs will guide you throughout the dining experience, sharing with you the secrets of these wonderful food choices, helping pairing with excellent wines and simply enjoying the meal. Experienced a very good lunch at this place. The Crudo di Branzino (crude sea bass) and the Paccheri die Gragnano with lobster were excellent. Followed by the Maialino da latte (suckling) and the Scaloppa di Foie Gras, all cooked to perfection. The service is impeccable and the place must be a real treat with nice weather and outdoor seating. Probably not the last time we went there.
