Been a good few years since we visited so popped there for early dinner on Saturday, what a transformation, great decor, lovely welcome, started well and continued all the way through the meal, squid and duck breast starters were both excellent with the squid being the best we have ever eaten. Kids ham and egg, Steak burger and King prawn/monkfish curry were the mains followed by lovely Sticky toffee pudding. All of it was delicious and we will 100% be coming back more frequently. After a long hiatus the Mussel Inn is firmly back on our list of places we really want to go to eat. Thanks to all there for a great meal.

Just had our second visit and another really enjoyable meal had by members of the family of all ages. Staff friendly, food delicious and presented well and a nice atmosphere each time we’ve been. The pub is dog friendly (see picture) and even that meal was presented beautifully! We will definitely be back. Yay, thank you so much for returning to The Fisherman's Arms, you are now a regular! We are very pleased to hear that you once again had a great family meal and that your woofer was also given an excellent meal. Thank you so much for your support. We look forward to your next visit.

Perfect Sunday roast for me, we chose the lamb and my grandson chose the kids chicken, which were gorgeously cooked. Crispy fluffy roast potatoes, delicious cauliflower cheese, huge Yorkshire pudding and a lovely amount of carrots, cabbage & peas... I’m sure I’m missing something else too! Adding to that, the service was as friendly and efficient as always. We loved it so thank you.

Myself and my partner have visited here many times now, at different times of the year - winter, summer and everything in between. The pub itself is nice and the setting even better, but there’s something really bizarre and not right about this place - every time we’ve been, without fail, there have been reserved signs on every single table there. A couple of others were darted about the place eating meals, so we asked about food just to make sure there weren’t any free tables in the back somewhere that hadn’t been reserved. The barmaid said that ALL the tables were booked up and that if we wanted food we’d have to sit perched up on bar stools at the bar (not very comfortable or appropriate for a meal), but that the chef probably wouldn’t agree to do us anything anyway (as they were supposedly booked up). Anyway, as the night went on (we stayed until close) we noticed that NONE of the tables with reserved signs were actually being occupied - at all - by anyone. Now, we’re talking a hell of a lot of tables here. And not one person actually showed up and sat at any of the tables. I mentioned this to my partner and noticed one of the bar staff look over sheepishly, and when we thought about it for a second we realised that every single time we’ve been here and they’ve turned us away for food, nobody has actually ended up occupying ANY of the many ‘reserved’ tables we’ve never been allowed to sit at. It became clear that for whatever reason, we had been lied to. Now, why the pub don’t want to serve us food or let us sit at a proper table - who knows, but to blatantly lie to customers like that and have fake reserved signs everywhere forcing us to sit on bar stools is just rude, unnecessary, and really quite strange. If you don’t want to do food then don’t advertise it as a food-serving pub, or just be honest with people, rather than this weird little tactic to deter customers. Very unprofessional.

Went for lunch with my daughter as a catch up without small children. We booked for 12 midday and the restaurant was deserted, even of staff. A waitress appeared and said we could sit anywhere. We moved from the table we first chose as it was unsteady and had piles of beer mats under several table legs. The food came at a reasonable speed as did the drinks. A party of 4 arrived and later another couple and a person on their own. This gave it a bit more atmosphere as initially it was too quiet and there was no music, which would have taken the edge off. The chilli was tasty and generous portion. After the waitress took our main meal dishes away we were not asked if we wanted desert. Eventually I called across to her and asked for deserts. My daughter had the chocolate cheesecake which was not very chocolatey but tasted nice if a bit too rich. Altogether, although the meal was ok, there was little atmosphere and the service could have been better, although the waitress was pleasant. I had hoped the decor etc may have changed a bit since new ownership but still seemed dark ish and gloomy. Has potential to be refreshed and more vibrant.

THE PLUSES;The Miners Arms has plentiful, easy parking, a restaurant filled with natural night, lovely views and the staff are friendly and helpful.THE MINUSES;Despite only one other table in the restaurant being occupied service was very slow. Our handmade steak burgers were tasty but, as another reviewer has noted, why on earth add a curry flavour somewhere (couldn’t locate the source) with no warning. It did override the meal and was a very odd addition. The fries were tasteless and the ‘salad’ was comprised of a small tangle of pea shoots fighting for space on an overused, narrow wooden board.Couldn't face dessert.Perhaps if our choice of food had been different my review would have been more favourable.

Staying near by and spotted the good reviews here so decided to give it a try. There is a friendly local, well frequented bar down stairs which was welcoming, clearly popular with locals, also on the ground floor was part of the restaurant. We dined upstairs in a modern area, we were made to feel very welcome. Staff were very attentive, service was very quick, presentation great. The food was excellent, could not fault anything, considering how busy the venue was I as suprised to see the kitchen (from my seat) was running so smoothly. All I can say is it was fantastic, pricing was excellent value.Fully recommended.

Been tonight. Very loud music. Not possible to have a conversation. Staff not interested. Was told if I didn't like it there were other pubs nearby. Rip off merchants. £1.20 for a bag of crisps when the George is £1. Also drinks about 20p over the cost at the George.Thank you for your feedback. I have noted your comments about disinterested staff (something that is very unusual for us as you will see from other reviews) and I will address this with the team.Your review states you visited on 22 August when we had no live music in the pub? Although it also suggests that it was a visit back in June. The Brook is a big open plan pub and music venue - and when we do stage live music we make sure it is never too loud for customers to have a conversation (unless, perhaps, you stand right in front of the speakers) with the possible exception of the evenings when we stage ticketed events and the people who come along are there for that purpose. Our prices reflect our costs. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your visit.Best wishesJohn and the team.
