We are a paragliding group and spend 1 week in Castelluccio. There are only two restaurants here. They were friendly, and their prices were somewhat cheaper than the other restaurant.

If you find yourself in Castellucio then a meal here is a must. They are very good at local dishes based on lentils. The service is good. They do get very busy at lunch time which is a good sign. A lot of locals eat here.

We've visited castelluccio several times. the locals are coping fantastically with the after effects of the earthquakes- some businesses in temporary cabins, others like this one still in the original building. We had a great lunch in the outer dining room - local cheeses& jam anti pasta, perfect tagliatelle alla montagna (local mushrooms, so tasty) then grilled castrato (lamb) and for me the sausages in red wine. Good friendly service, great fresh food at reasonable prices - we'll be back to stay a night or two in the town soon.

We were recommended to go here for the fresh ricotta which is made twice a day. We had a light lunch. The dining area was very busy and people were waiting for tables. Service was frantic as the family dealt with the customers with plenty of charm. The ricotta is a must to try. I've never had it before, my husband declined at first but then ate half of mine. It is served with honey and cinnamon. We even bought extra to have at out evening meal.

Visited Castelluccio with friends and decided to try this quaint restaurant. We were greeted by the staff warmly on arrival and shown to our table. The decor is modern with comfortable seating and great views of the surrounding mountains. Our waiter, Virgil, was extremely attentive and knowledgeable not only of the cuisine on offer, but of the history of Castelluccio and surrounding areas. The service provided by Virgil and other staff there was first class. The food, made from local ingredients and produce, was very good. I recommend the Spelt Soup with Legumes and Truffles, also the local sausages are very good. We tried the house wine, both red and white, and were both very good. The cost of the meal was also very reasonable. It's well worth the drive to Castelluccio to try this very good restaurant, I highly recommend it.

What a lovely find on a freezing cold day in January. Very warm welcome & the food rustic, fresh & home-cooked. Presentation was also excellent. Only house wine available by the jug - would be nice if there was a choice of bottles. Look forward to returning! Town & environs amazing!Thank you. We look forward again in our restaurant. L'Altoplano is one of about 10-12 small restaurants in this amazing ancient village in the Monte Sibillini national park. The village itself set on a hill into the middle of an extensive bowl surrounded by mountains--incredible. This restaurant is a poor choice-a few rickety tables, zero atmousphere, half the menu items not available and everything rather high priced for what it was. Best to select another place if you visit this extraordinary spot.

Arriving in Castelluccio at around 1.00 on a beautiful day we decided to have lunch here. We had an outdoor table across the road from the restaurant with an amazing view over the Piano Grande and the road we had come on.We opted for the speciality lentil soup which was crammed full of delicious lentils. Service was enthusiastic and prompt and the fresh bread was very good, particularly the walnut bread. However our main memory will be of being able to sit there in the sunshine with that wonderful view.

I would strongly reccommend people to visit Mariella and her family and be their guests even for just one meal and one night. Mariella leads from the kitchen, her husband, Ulisse, at the grill and her daugther, Francesca, serving at the table and also helping out in preparing the food. Simple and genuine dishes prepared as you do in an Italian home. Nearly all of the produce used by the Locanda is home produce from Mariella's family farm, So it's biological and at 0 kms. Queen of the table and of the area is the Lentil. Castelluccio produces and exceptional lentil and the way Mariella brings it to the table is simple and very very tasty. There are about 6 double rooms upstairs all newly furnished with taste. The bathrooms are spotless and just the right size. The surroundings are incredible. If you like hiking you could spend at least a week doing all the trails that are offered here. If you like motorcycling the roads in this are are amazing, many curves and incredible scenery.We spent New Year's eve here and Ulisse, put up a magnificent firework display. What a way to start 2013!
