Charlie's Kabob Grill

Reviewed By Hawaiiheaven - Harrogate, United Kingdom

Charlie's is great for a quick lunch if you want something fresh that doesn't leave you feeling gross. It's extremely casual; food is served on styrofoam plates and most dishes are ready in just a minute. The food was pretty good, but I have really high expectations of this sort of food. I lived overseas for several years and I've had the opportunity to eat some delicious Mediterranean fare. I thought the hummus at Charlie's was very average. The pita triangles that were served with the hummus were not very fresh. My gyro was good.

The ambiance is really casual, so don't go in expecting anything fancy. The service was friendly. The value was spot on for the quality and quantity of their food.

Not sure I'll be hurrying back, but I'm glad this sort of food is being served up in Wake Forest!

Charron's Deli

Reviewed By AMFamily7 - Youngsville, North Carolina

I had lunch here together with my husband and little girl. My sandwich was pretty good...the bread a little too toasty, but it was tasty. They use Boarhead meats. It is a small, pleasant and clean deli. Sandwiches are a bit more than Subway down the road, but you can feel confident that the meats and other ingredients are of superior quality. I love the bagged kettle chips they sell. They also sell ice cream, but I have never ordered it.

It can get surprisingly busy during lunch hour. Customer service is great.

I love supporting small local family businesses and I will continue to support my neighborhood deli. I look forward to my next sandwich here. :)

Lumpy's Ice Cream

This place has the most wonderful, homemade ice cream I've had since I don't know when! My husband and I stop in here whenever we can, and have never been disappointed! We especially love the butter pecan ice cream in the waffle cone..The folks who own/operate this little gem are nice, polite, and very helpful to their customers. Am looking forward to our next visit!

Wake Forest Coffee Company

Reviewed By joannabarrera - Wake Forest, North Carolina

This place is located in downtown Wake Forest. They have a really unique atmosphere and usually a very friendly barista at the front counter. There is a second floor with art space. Lots of seating and is great for meeting and catching up with an old friend or getting some work done as there are outlets available for those who need them.

I did not love their selection of coffee or the lack of variety of their menu.
Their coffee is okay and their chai is pretty average. Nothing bad but nothing great. Prices are not the best I've ever seen for the quality of coffee you are getting.

If you're not a huge coffee nut, then you will also like that you can get icecream here too!

Lived here for 11 years and for one reason or another have found myself going to Briggs over the years. After the first 3-4 times, not by my own choice. Visually, the place is very delightful....bright, nice decor. On weekends there is always a long wait. The menu is very compelling-many interesting and different offerings. Fun rotating specials. I've just never found the food that comes to the table up to the (relatively) high prices put on the check. Been there at 30+ times over the years and more often than not the food is served up cold. Mostly tasty, but cold. Yes it's a busy place and yes I worked in restaurants and know that cold food delivery is not the fault of the kitchen but rather the wait staff and management. No mater who is at fault, I've not been pleased. IMHO....there are now many other better options....try First Watch, 15 minutes down Capital.

Griffin's Restaurant

I give a 5 score only to "fine dining" or upscale establishments, but this one gets a solid 4. This is a favorite with locals, and there are some customers who eat here every day. Hint: there's a "Board of Directors" table, and this table is for the latter group. The food here is country-style and very tasty. The handmade biscuits are huge, and if you're looking for sausage gravy, you'll find it here. While they're cooking your order, check out the antique sporting goods and other stuff on the walls. It's just a relaxing, friendly place that's on the road less traveled (not US 1 or the Interstate) and worth a visit.

We had some trouble finding this place, which is at the edge of a shopping center that seems to be undergoing refurbishment. Interesting menu with varied selections, what you might call modern-urban-cliche. We had a Cobb salad that was served on a plate 12 inches across, full to overflowing with avocados, bacon bits, lettuce, tomatoes, etc.--all pretty fresh-tasting. We also had a Turkey sandwich (called "downtowner" for some reason), which we found less than superlative. Communities like Wake Forest in the Raleigh conurbation have dozens of such places, a cut above fast food but some cuts below gourmet dining. The service here is exceptionally polite. Huge flat-screen TV assumes a sports-bar clientele, which we are not, but at least it's not Fox News.

Main Street Grille Cafe & Bakery

Reviewed By Margo Z - Wake Forest, North Carolina

Order at counter from posted menu and food delivered to table. I had the Turkey reuben and DH has a tuna salad on English muffin. Both good, though I thought the reuben a tad greasy. The bread was excellent. I believe they make it right there or get it from local bakery. Lots of food for the price. I could not finish my sandwich.
Issues: parking lot in small strip mall too full as was church parking lot right next door. We had to park 1/2 block away and walk in. Very crowded and slow line to order - might help with second cashier and cash stand. However parking was due to visitors to other businesses also, not much Main Street can do about that. Just we aware of a possible issue.

Sheetz is a gas station chain, but they have amazingly good food in each of their stores. Many many choices for sandwiches, subs, snacks, and many other things. And their made-to-order choices allow you to completely customize a sandwich. They have a number of subs that are $2 for the 6" and $4 for the 12". My favorites are the Turkey or the meatball. Imagine this...a 6" Turkey sub on a pretzel roll with mayo, sauteed unions, sauteed green peppers, tomato, black olives and grated parmesan cheese for $2 plus tax. And there are other choices to add and other choices of rolls (i also like the multigrain rolls). If you want a quick snack they have a special of 2 regular hot dogs for $1. That's right, $1. And I add their 'boom boom sauce', and chopped sweet onions at no extra charge. It is all fast, your own choices, inexpensive and delicious at Sheetz. And use your sheetz card and get any size fountain drink for 89 cents or less. And the Youngsville store has a nice sit-down inside and outside eating area.
