Falls Lake State Recreation Area

Reviewed By Dan S - Raleigh, North Carolina

Falls Lake recreation area is a great place to go to do nothing. Its a good place to relax and read a book. There are also places to fish, hike, swim or have a picnic. But its a great place to get our and sit in the sun or shade.
Note that you do have to figure out where to go. There are many miles of shoreline, and access points are somewhat limited. But look them up on Google and you can find options for where to go. A nice place that may not be on the Falls Lake site is Blue Jay Point. That is a great place to go with kids, or go for a family hike. They also have a zip line area that you have to pay for, but looks kinda cool.

Hill Ridge Farms

Hill Ridge Farms is open April-December with lot's of seasonal activities that are perfect for family outings, school field trips, church groups, birthday parties, corporate events and more!

Everyone loved everything. Literally my only complaint is they got rid of these big lengths of pipe that you could race in, and there's not much for adults to do while the kids are playing - most of the activities are kid only.
Other than that, a great time was had by all.

Fantasy Lake Scuba Park

Reviewed By Ray W - Raleigh, North Carolina

OK, our local quarry is Fantasy Lake Scuba Park in Rolesville, NC. It's a decent sized quarry with a dock entry and a beach walk-in. Our shop uses is for OW certification and for training of PSD teams.
The quarry features two submerged airplanes, a couple of cars, a rock crusher (which is good for wreck dive training) a school bus, several boats and the final resting place of Elvis Presley (alleged) Entry fee is $20 and is good for all day. Camping is available for $5 a night. However, there is not electricity and no running water on site.
This place can get crowded on the weekends. During the week, you can enjoy a quiet dive with good visibility in the right season.
Picnic shelters are available first come, first serve. You must register at the gate and have a valid C card or be with an instructor.
There is also an underwater basketball court where you can dunk bowling balls like MJ!

Not the best location for an outdoor play area. You will see deer hunters standing on the side of the road, rifles and hunting dog trackers in hand. Overpriced, but the kids did enjoy it. I recommend dressing them in bright orange.

AMAZING, EXHILARATING, AWESOME, BEST.EXPERIENCE.EVER!!! I went skydiving for the first time yesterday with a group of friends and I am beyond happy that Triangle Skydiving was the company to make this happen for us. I truly didn't think I would feel as safe and comfortable as I did but the instructors were so funny and just made it seem like we were going for a walk in the park. My instructor Greg, had me laughing the entire time and even though I was pretty scared, his personality really calmed me down. There were four of us and all of our instructors were AMAZING. I've never been so happy to have a complete stranger strapped to my behind all in my personal bubble lol!! Purchased the video... BEST DECISION EVER! If you're doing this, get the video... I mean the footage of this experience is priceless!!! You get a video and pics of like every frame from the video. Shout out to Ann Marie, she was my photographer. This place was great and I recommend it to any and everyone who has ever wanted to try skydiving. The view was amazing, the feeling was indescribable and the landing was perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you so much Triangle Skydiving and especially my instructor Greg- I'm glad I really didn't have to kick your butt afterwards lol!!! I'll see you soon because I will definitely be back!!!!

E. Carroll Joyner Park

Reviewed By Michael S - Wake Forest, North Carolina

This is great local park to get some exercise, relax or in the spring enjoy free concerts when the Town of Wake Forest puts on Six Sunday's in Spring. They've just added some strategically located workout stations along the several miles of rolling walking trails. Take a few minutes to check out the historic buildings that were meticulously restored on site. A walk (or jog) around the outer loop trail is about 2 miles.
There are large grass areas for letting your kids burn off some energy too.

...on the Neuse River Trail. I bicycle here sometimes. Others enjoy walking or jogging. There's plenty of varied scenery. Bridges go over the river and back. Asphalt the whole way except for the wooden bridges, which can be slippery depending upon your bicycle. So be careful. Benches to relax as well.

C&C Farm

Scenic guided trail rides, lessons for beginners of all ages, pasture boarding, on-site leasing, birthday parties and camps.

Reviewed By BriStev

My friend and I booked a trail ride from C & C Farms while I was visiting the area. What we got was more than just a trail ride, but a wonderful inclusive experience. The trail guide, Tracy was very knowledgeable and friendly. The owners also came by to greet us before and after the hour long trail ride and they were lovely people. It felt like we were spending time with old friends, rather than paying for a trail ride. The horses were well kept, healthy, and great trail horses. They even let us stay after the ride and help groom them and spend more time with the horses. I would highly recommend them for anyone looking to go for a trail ride and spend time with friendly people who love horses! I definitely will be back whenever I am in town again!
