Altja Tavern is located in Lahemaa National Park in Northern Estonia. It is about 90 km from Tallinn to Altja fishing village. The tavern with its old thatched roof and unspoiled décor is a good place to have for a decent meal for any passerby intending to get to know the area. Several renovated manors and important camping trails are situated nearby. Upon reaching Altja, one can comfortably park the car or tourist bus in our spacious parking lot. Before having the meal, it is recommended to walk along the old village road to the fishing net shed on the headland. There, one can enjoy an amazing view to the sea. On the way back, after swinging on the village swing, it is the right time to stop in the tavern. We offer simple but delicious Estonian dishes. If the weather permits, it is possible to sit on the Terrace, have a picnic in our spacious courtyard, or arrange outdoor events. During the summer, we advise larger groups to make a booking in advance. If desired, we can also invite folk musicians to give a performance. Everyone is welcome.
There aren't a lot of places to eat in this part of the Lahemaa national park, so coming across the Korts is a welcome treat. The restaurant's appearance is quite appealing; thatched roof, outside patio if the weather is warm. The dishes are traditional Estonian, and tasty. Prices are reasonable. Just be aware that the tourist buses stop here, so if you come at the "wrong time" for lunch, the place can get slammed. If that happens, take a walk (there are lots of nice trails here) and come back in an hour.

Situated in the Lahemma national park in Estonia, this restaurant is good for a quick lunch.
The building looks like an alpine lodge. The food is hearty with some nice soups. The locals refer to it as a tavern. There certainly is plenty of drink!
Service is self-service.
Prices are cheap.
Worth a visit if you happen to be here.

My partner and I stayed at a cabin located on the property of Lahemaa Kohvikann. Everything you need is supplied; the wonderful hosts have ensured only the true basics are needed so you remain close to nature. Well, the basics are provided along with fantastic food at their restaurant. The menu robustly caters to every palette so much so that it has become quite the local hot-spot for dinner. Waking each morning to freshly brewed coffee on our own private porch pull-vaulted our energy levels to move onward by bicycle and explore the national park. The owners encourage you to explore by foot and bicycle in order to see more and more of the beauty the forest has to offer. While located off the main road connecting transportation to Tallinn, the hosts will assist to either drop you off at a bus stop (amazing place as well!) or show you how to venture onward and culminate the adventure. One could spend days here in the relaxing environment of the cabin as well as exploring the area. I will definitely be back and will share with my network this great find!

The restaurant on the second floor of Sagadi Manor Hotel, situated in Lahemaa National park, seats up to 80 guests, but merged with the adjacent banquet hall, it is possible to seat more than 100 guests for birthdays or wedding parties. On chilly winter nights, a fireplace warms the room and makes it even more cosy. On hot summer days you can enjoy refreshing drinks and snacks on the summer Terrace on the second floor. Our à la carte menu offers traditional dishes as well as game specials.
Waited at the restaurant 20 minutes to make the order, then another 30 minutes without even getting drinks from the order. Apparently there was some banquet, but the waitress failed to warn us in advance that cooking would take a long time and weren't able to tell when would meals be ready. Left the place without eating.

This is a tavern that always offers particularly delicious ancestral dishes – real farm labourer’s gruel, homemade bread, and butter are always on the table. If desired, larger meals are also available because the tavern staff welcomes each wayfarer as a dear and awaited relative who must not leave hungry and parched. It is also obvious, that if weather permits, the table is set outdoors. This way, it is easy for parents to keep an eye on their offspring while they go swinging on the farm labourers’ swing hill. The tavern can accommodate about one hundred persons, and thus, even a decent folk wedding with numerous guests can be held here. After eating one’s fill, one can go and see how farm labourers lived and what jobs they had to do in order to keep themselves alive. All kinds of hung up and laid about tools can be examined closely and some of them can even be used to accomplish a task or two – if strength and wits permit.
We drove over here from Palmse Manor (found out later there is a walking trail from the house). The huge 1831 farm labourers' quarters are incredibly atmospheric inside with tools, wooden benches and Estonian tchotchkes about. We sat on benches outside in the sun, next to a meadow with sheep and horses. The waitress delivered a complimentary basket of brown bread and cornbread and a tub of amazing salty, soft butter. I ordered the beetroot soup which was fantastic. The cider on tap was great- medium dry. My husband got the pork knuckle which he said was moist and incredibly tasty.
The food arrives slow, as a previous reviewer said, so just be patient. As a bonus, there is a hutch of friendly bunnies in the back of the barn!

You will find the unique O Pub from Vosu, a popular summer holiday spot in Lahemaa national park. O Pub is located at the heart of Vosu, very close to the beach. The pub has a big outdoor Terrace. We offer you a rich menu all year round and merry parties at the weekends.
We dropped by for lunch when cycling. There is not much else in the area. They have a large covered balcony with good Seating. There is no real view being back from the beach but that's fine.
We just had a light lunch of Estonian garlic bread and Greek salad. Basic but just fine and only a few euros. The latte macchiatos were hot and creamy.
We had ridden on to Kasmu but their only decent lunch place is Thursday to Saturday. So O Pub or O korts as it is signed is your best choice in the area.

In Vihula manor house you can find one of the most beautiful first class restaurants in Estonia. With its thoroughly restored original floors and ceiling ornaments, paintings and modern Scandinavian furniture this restaurant is a pleasant combination of the traditional old and modern minimalism. High ceilings, large windows overlooking the manor park, fire place and piano add even more luxury to the environment. Restaurant La Boheme has a cocktail bar which seats 30, in addition a cigar room and guest house and library together with Sun Terrace. In summer you can have your meal outside on the Terrace of the restaurant.
While staying at Vihula mõis ww decided to have a romantic dinner.
Restaurant is located in a very large open room, mainly light colors all around. Live music was playing. Our waitress was quite friendly, she knew what she was talking about. I had pumpkin soup with home made bread and it was tasty. For dessert I had home made chocolate ice cream and didn't like it as it had egg inside it. All in all we had a lovely dinner. I ld prefer more intimacy but that is not quite possible in one big room. :) Reasonable prices, nice serving of meals. Give it a try!
