First of all be aware of theliterof wine for €10 :) Interesting fusions of Italian and Japanese food such as Thai tagliatelle etc. very tasty and full portions. Very attentive service, not far from local hotels on the via de como near the train station.

Have been there cause it was the only place with a TV showing EuroCup 2012.
They serve Italian sandwiches but honestly it is nothing special, paid round about 5,00 € for a Sandwich but taste was not really kicking me. Drinks served as well, beer is more expensive than in a bar. Lady who serves is more interested in Facebook than in customers. Quite unfriendly. Seating very limited. I will not return.

We wanted a special meal for our weekend away and I am so glad we found this restaurant. Silvio head chef should be awarded a Michelin star accolade. The food really was world class in presentation and taste. We choose Silvio Surprise menu which really is under priced. It was quite exciting waiting for each surprise dish which is created on the night by Silvio. The freshness and quality of food truly was mouth watering. The staff were very attentive and spoke excellent English. Beautiful clean restaurant located in the sacred mountain. What more could you ask for. We were the last diners in the restaurant, yet they were happy to stay open as long as we wanted . I hope to go there again for another of Silvio surprise dinner . This has to be a la carte at its finest

Mainly seafood, as the restaurant's name suggests. And mainly southern seafood cuisine, which is definitely a very interesting piece of Italy culinary tradition.
The chef knows well how to present raw fish, which belongs to the marine tradition of Sicily and of Puglia, among other Italian regions, and not only to Japan!
We had the tuna tripes (cooked) and the fantasmagoric huge raw seafood platter (with oysters, red shrimps, white and red truffles, prawns, cicale...).
The chef knows very well also how to cook excellent Primi Piatti, which were a pure pleasure : we had orecchiette with shrimps and a great pasta with urchins and bottarga. Wonderful.
We didn't specifically like fish as a main course: we had the Fritto Misto and the Grilled Prawns, and we didn't find them special as the rest of the meal.
Desserts were wonderful too, with an excellent tiramisù and a good cheesecake.
The ambiance is elegant, though a little too formal, in my humble opinion. The service is of good quality and discretion. We specifically liked the competent support of the lady Sommelier, who accompanied us throughout our meal, with good suggestions.
Price is medium high, which is expected for this upscale venue in Varese.
I want to stress that, despite that I didn't find the main courses special, the whole meal was very enjoyable and the ingredients are of excellent quality (fish is fresh and really good! ).
We want to come back again and explore more the main course side.

Lovely setting and very nice decor sets you up for a very nice meal.
The customer service was very good and very attentive.
The only downside was that the food was nice, but not exceptional! And if you then talk about value, I felt that it wasn't really value for money!
It's a pity as many of the other reviews rate it highly, so we possibly hit them on a bad day, but then again when a restaurant is of a high quality it's generally also consistent!

Good food and good personal service. It is however a good idea to ask prices of specials before you order the; we were quite surprised to find out the price of the lobster, which was very good by the way but also not cheap. But, a good place to have dinner.

We had a very enjoyable lunch at the Ristorante Teatro. Relaxed atmosphere in the traditional dining room with a theatrical theme, and an interesting menu, including home made pasta and ingredients from around Italy. The waiter recommended a very nice Prosecco, which was smooth and fruity (see photo). Definitely recommended.

PRO's:
1. The Staff especially our server Filippo. He was charming, usually smiling, engaging and happy. Alessandro, our other server, was efficient but not engaging, rarely smiling and not charming as Filippo.
2. The food is unique, all made on premises including the pasta, fresh, well prepared and presented and of course scrumptious.
3. The view is amazing out to the valley and the city of Varese below.
4. The fireplace roaring in the back room where we were invited to sit and sip the local liquor that made the Borducan famous (yum!)
5. The complimentary Proseco before dinner, the after dinner digestivo and the appetizer. Many thanks!
CONs:
1. The noise level can be fierce not from visiting Americans (we are way too loud and oblivious to the world it seems) but from an Italy couple and their friends who brought their dog into the restaurant, fed him with a bowl on the table with the other diners, fawned over him and encouraged him to bark. It was quite disturbing for an otherwise great dining experience. (This is the only reason why I rated it Very Good vs. Excellent as the staff did not control the guests.)
Would I return to Borducan? Yes but only if there were no dogs present; otherwise, I would go back to the Hotel Colonna which has a great restaurant too (higher in price, no complimentary drinks or appetizers and no engaging nor smiling staff though).

Quality everywhere: spotless place, warm welcome (we didn't book and arrived a bit late for lunch), food "teasers" awesome, meticolous service, seafood cooked with outstanding expertise, few minutes wait for every meal delivered.
Can't recommend it to people looking for cheap stuff.
Surely will recommend to any of my friends looking for possibly greatest seafood I EVER ate so far in north Italy.
Repeat it: not cheap, but worth any single eurocent.

We went to the restaurant on Sunday evening with my husband and 2 friends,
We had an amazing meal, Not a huge menu which to me is perfect,there was plenty to choose from but not too much to confuse a person.
The meal was out standing, not one down fall at all, each plate was as I expected with a little added twist, making the meal stand out from any meal I have had in a very long time !!
The wine choice was very good.
The surrounding views are beautiful and serene, subtle music and low lights, just perfect
The staff were extremely efficient, polite and well presented.
Totally out standing ! An amazing night I will remember for a long time
(But please make sure you take mosquito repellent if seated outside, I have more than enough bites to remind me of the evening)
