The Chanthorn Restaurant and the Chanthorn Phochana which listed a #1 and #2 are actually the same dining outlet. The sad thing is that it should not call ' Chanthorn' since it represents the name of the town which is Chanthaburi. The unnecessary confusion in this growing town need to be minimized.
Our visit to Chanthorn Restaurant or Chanthorn Phochana or their new branch at Chanthorn Maharat was disappointing. We drove to the restaurant which was near to our hotel and decided to park our car at the hotel and walk back for our dinner. However to our disappointment, the restaurant stop taking guests when half of the tables were empty. We decided to order take-home for our dinner at the hotel. The dishes ordered were suitable for most local but would be unsuitable for foreign visitors.

This local Thai/seafood restaurant is located on the bank of klong Wang Tanode inlet near Khem Nuu Pak Nam where klong Tanode (Tanode canal) join the sea. View at sunset is superb. All seafood is freshness gauranteed from artisonnal fisher folks. They said stored fry shrimp with lemon is signature dish here but I did not ordered it. Each dish is served in huge size ,so if u come only 2 persons u can order 3 dishes at most. I went there with my friend so we ordered cattle- fish stired fried with fish sauce, mullet sweet and sour soup, and shrimp stired fry with black pepper. All 3 dishes were excellent taste. The food is quiet quick served after order has been put. Lots of parking space. Worth the price. Definitely gonna come back here.

Yak Tu Seafood is located 30 km from the town of Chanthaburi. Unless you have your own transportation, reaching the restaurant is not easy. However for fresh seafood lovers, the trip is more than worthwhile. We had our lunch after our morning sightseeing and found the restaurant was still rather busy with several tables in the process of finishing their meals. We also witnessed seafood merchants that brought their various live seafood to sell. In the casual dining mood, we ordered variety of seafood of our liking and top-up with few other fresh seafood of the day. The freshness of the seafood and the simple cooking of Yai Tu made a fantastic lunch. We definitely have to return the next time we pass this way.

Chanthorn Phochana has been one of the province landmark, eatery-wise. It's authentic Thai dishes include Namprik, spicy Mangosteen salad, Kaeng Pa with various meat choices, among others. Service was okay. The old owner was quite friendly.
Worth a try if you happen to be visiting the town and need to try some authentic Thai food.

We have been here several times, the seafood is great & the cooks do a good job on every dish. The staff are good but during the last 3 years the prices have gone up a lot & why not when I have seen many vans & Tour buses with a packed house on any day but on some days you may be the only ones.
If Puja is packed & its lunch then keep going to the end at the pier & try the place on the water.
If its dinner then try a little mum & dad place that is one of the best Seafood places in Chanthaburi called Surin.
It is 1 soi back on the right before you get to the pier It is a little place on the corner 1 block in. Just park on the left. You must try the Fish & veg dish called Pla Pa ( it sounds more like Pla Bra) & the Shrimp in lime & garlic. They only speak Thai but you will get what you order off the menu or have a Thai friend write your order. I am the only Farang in the place each time I visit

Saw the Latte Coffee House from the other side of the river (just arrived at hotel Rachan) and hurried over there, as I just needed my afternoon coffee.
Some of the most delicious cakes that I've seen (and tasted) in Thailand. And a very lovely and peaceful place. Sitting in the garden is just like meditating.

Food was quite good. Location was better - by the river. This place is done up in a kind of local style, and can be considered a 'boutique' restaurant. Staff were so-so and not too friendly.

Nice coffee shop on the riverfront. They serve cakes and drinks. It is popular. With good reason. The narrow street between the old houses would be charming if it was turned into a walking street. An endless number of motorbikes use this street in both directions. It is very annoying. I think the shop owners in the street should ask the town hall to block motorbikes from entering this street.
