Our first time here and will return when in the area. Our waiter "Batman" was friendly, helpful, and attentive. The fried shrimp and oysters were tasty. The shrimp combo plate was excellent. The cornbread was enjoyed by all. One had the blackened ribeye with oysters and couldn't finish it - too much food. Went back on Sunday to find they're not open Sundays, our loss.

So while spending a week in Surfside we soon realized there is no place that serves breakfast during the week. But in saying that I did enjoy my shrimp at 10am. All drinks are bottles or canned so no refills but the food was good so we enjoyed it.

I had been going here for 15 years, always been good. The carne guisada tacos were the best I've ever had. The last time I went I opened up my taco to put the chile` in there & there was twigs and leaves...like they accidentally scraped off the floor and just put it in. I have no idea how tree particles would get in my taco but I was so upset that I vowed to never come here again. I miss it though. Still, I'm scared to eat there now.

I love to bring people that are from outbof town to prove that there is a lake in Lake Jackson. Lol. I love to sit outside in good weather. Service can be slow at times but Food is always good.

Had Fish Po Boy for lunch, very thin piece of dry breaded fish on a cheap roll with some iceberg lettuce, home fries weren't very good and weren't fresh. Others got shrimp entrees that came with a very small portion of shrimp and mediocre sides. Nothing seemed fresh or homemade, I definitely would not go back or recommend.

Menus and decor are dated and uninspired, just like the food.

Greeted immediately. Service was good. Seated on a deck with direct view of the Gulf, with the wonderful sound of the waves crashing on the beach. Prices were very reasonable. The food was delicious. What a find after just driving south from Galveston not knowing what would be available. Stopped because of their sign and the number of cars in the parking lot.

Pier 30

Pier 30 Bar and Grill is a full bar and restaurant. Our kitchen is open daily from 11 am to 10 pm, and the bar is open daily 11 am to 2 am. We have both indoor and outdoor seating and gorgeous views of the water. Great food and entertainment 7 nights a week!

I visited Pier 30 on a Wednesday evening around 5:30pm and the place already had several patrons. It’s an open-air establishment, and even though the entrance off Highway 332 is non-descript (see photo), once you walk in there’s lots of seating as well as some outside deck seating on the south side along a finger of the nearby marsh. In the middle is a bar area and I chose to go there and take a seat, where several people sat to my right and just one on my left (see picture). I was immediately greeted by a woman working behind the bar (there were a couple, as well as several waitresses working the tables both to the east of the bar and to its west). I ordered a Newcastle draught and she asked if I wanted a 16- or 24-oz. – I opted for just the pint. She brought it in a glass and put it in a coozie that has the establishment’s information on it (see picture). I also ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell. After several minutes, during which the oysters were being shucked (I passed by an open door on the north side of the restaurant and saw piles of oyster shells where they’d been shucked on the spot), the bartender brought them out, accompanied by horseradish, cocktail sauce, and a basket of saltines (see picture). I squeezed the two provided lemons over the oysters and enjoyed them, primarily with horseradish but ran out and used the cocktail sauce for the last few. The oysters were fresh and had only a moderate number of shell pieces in them (I’ve learned to chew gingerly when I first eat raw oysters before getting more aggressive with the chewing). I then ordered a margarita as Pier 30 has Wednesday margarita specials - $2.99 for a Cuervo-based margarita. I also ordered a couple of fish tacos, and they later came out with a jalapeno pepper (see picture). I found them tasty with a kind of slaw accompanying the mild fish. Once I’d finished this, I ordered a bowl of seafood gumbo and another beer – Shiner Bock beer this time. The gumbo eventually came out and had two fried shrimp and a fried oyster on top (see picture). Although it’s billed as seafood gumbo, it also had some sausage and chicken in it. The gumbo was absolutely delicious and I can see why people order it and other items to go; there were quite a few to-go orders picked up as I dined. By the time I left, the bar on my side (there’s another side on the west) was full and more people were coming in and sitting at tables, too. A woman to my left ordered a pound of boiled shrimp and it looked good – I’d try it on my next visit. If you’re okay with a blue-collar atmosphere with good food and cold beer, this is a great place to visit.

We have eaten at AR's for several years. Usually a breakfast visit. My family loves their breakfast tacos. Recently a few friends and I had lunch there. The food is always good and very affordable. Junior and Justin are two of the staff that we enjoy visiting with. Recently they completely renovated their restaurant. It looks really nice. There is such a large clientele it may be hard to have a large group during their regular business hours. They also have a heavy load of take out orders during their regular business hours. That just tells me that they have great food. They do need more parking...again that says they have good food.
