Food quality not good, some things not available, toilets were disgusting and it took over 45mins to get the food. We say other people at our hotel that we have seen before and they warned us it had gone down. We decided to make our own mind up, should't have bothered. Wont be going back unless we hear from a reliable source that things have got better.

Reviewed By TOB_HH - Hamburg

This place is based on a simple formula: fresh fish simply cooked in a wonderful location next to the sea.
All the fresh fish is cooked in the same way: grilled, filleted and served with roast peppers and tomatoes, all beautifully fresh. Fish types are sorted into first, second and third class according to price. Ask to see the fish before choosing; they are stored in boxes of ice.
There are also some small dishes: our prawns with tomato and feta sauce were very tasty - however there were only two big prawns on top and lots of small ones underneath. All the fish and shellfish type are marked as being fresh or frozen.
As others have said, it's a wonderful experience to sit right next to the water looking out to the city lights reflected in the water and the sunset.
The restaurant opens at 7 pm. Prices are moderate for the quality offered. Dinner for two with two starters and a shared fish with a bottle of mid-priced Boutari wine was 62 Euro.
Service is efficient and helpful, without a particularly personal touch.

Had lunch and dinner here on two separate days. The salads here are humungous and could feed an army so check before you order other courses. Had the typical Greek salad and Aubergine salad for lunch.
The Lamb Kleftiko, though small compared to other restaurants was delicious. The bread was fresh and a complimentary desert and Raki was served. Service also efficient and very helpful and friendly.

This place has very good Cretan food. The lamb smothered in staka is rich and delicious. Decent house wine. Good salads. The place was very bustling so we expected to get rushed through our meal but this was not the case. We were allowed to take our time and enjoy our meal. Service was attentive despite how busy it was and there was always a server ready to fulfill any request. I think the only reason I didnt give five stars is the fact that it was so busy at the time we visited, which affects the overall ambience but again, great food and good service.

To Stachi

Being vegetarian and coeliac definitely presents it's challenges when travelling. We thought To Stachi would be a great find.We found the restaurant through tripadvisor and was looking forward to it ALL day!! However, I actually think this was the WORST restaurant I have ever been to... The food was just terrible. My partner was offered bread and got a basket of bread (extra charge on bill) which was rock hard/stale.. unedible. He decided to get the "special" of the day.. it was a plate of microwaved to within an inch of its life slop. Like literally the vegetables were slop.(Like seriously.....?! This is supposed to be a vegetarian restaurant?!?!?!?!) I ordered a chickpea soup....... and I received a bowl of water with salt in it and some chickpeas floating around... Just pure despicable food. I would NOT recommend this place at all. We literally pushed the food around the plate, paid and left to go eat in another restaurant straight after as we were starving (and now grumpy..!)

Love this authentic Italian restaurant located next to the highway close to Souda, hidden behind trees and nature, Don Rosario is a delightful surprise.
All pasta are home made, and the taste is leaving no doubt that this was prepared by a true Italian chef.
Also recommnedable is their wines, which at an affordable rate, is very high quality.
Worth a visti!

Excellent service, starting with the bread plus tomato puree and cheese they bring you with the menu. Ice cold water. No charge, no surprises.
I had a Greek salad and chestnut stew. Perfect. With my bill I received a small plate with a dessert (looked like yogurt) and ouzo. Delicious and, again, no charge.
Lovely place, very near the Minaret and the old market of Chania.

This is an excellent restaurant with an emphasis on fish. Have eaten there numerous times and never been disappointed, also have always received very good service. The fresh Calamari both Fried and Grilled has always been extremely good. It is a quirky harbourside restaurant frequented by mainly Greeks and is invariably very busy

We found this fantastic place by accident. We were turned off by the number of tavernas where the menus had photographs of the food !!! We liked the look of this place but it seemed full, we walked around a bit more, and came back. They got us a table from out the back and set it up for us. We ordered two small dishes, to see how we got on, but there was plenty and cooked beautifully. Two guitarists appeared and we were treated to live music which was a bonus, so we ordered another jug of wine and enjoyed the atmosphere immensely. Many thanks for a wonderful evening in Chania.
