We were visiting this town for a Easter Market and stumbled on this restaurant. The place was packed so I would recommend a reservation. We were seated in the back of the restaurant and were amazed at the amount of delicious dishing dishes going out to all the tables. They have a wonderful menu and our food was amazing. My husband had a vegetarian pasta dish that was delicious and I had a salad with chicken breast and veggies. My salad was so good! The chicken was so tasty and tender. The salad dressing was outstanding. We were also served bruschetta at the beginning of the meal that was out of this world. I could have had an order of that alone and been totally satisfied. Our waiter was awesome and spoke english to us even though we both understand German. I was so impressed with the food that was going out to other tables and would love to try more dishes at this place. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves really good authentic Italian dishes.

IL Castello

We started frequenting Il Costello soon after our move from New York to Seligenstadt. After sampling several restaurants in the town, we settled upon Il Costello as "our restaurant".
The menu is extensive (with seasonal variety) and the wine-list is reasonable (I wish they had a greater selection at the mid to high end). All of the food we have ever had has been very good and tasty (sometimes, they use too much salt). And it was interesting to discover they did not have a microwave in the kitchen.
The service has always been outstanding, even when they didn't know us as well as they do now (one of the reasons it became "our restaurant"). And the "after dinner" choice of; Espresso, Ramazzotti, Grappa, or Gummy-Bears (which is "on the house") is a very nice touch.
My personal favourite is the "wheel of cheese"... It's a pasta dish to die for... (see pic).
... The "visit date" is our last visit - but we have been going for the past three years.

Had reserved here for dinner over the busy wine festival weekend. The ambiance is lovely, although bring your glasses to read menu in the low lighting! There was nice soft music with a piano player and a really great singer. We really appreciated it, not intrusive at all and the selection of songs was just perfect. In addition, the food was outstanding. The menu variety is very large and the portions are very generous. The starter sized spinach salad could have been a meal in itself as the salad had some side dishes, mushrooms and a cheese in a sauce dish, all so very good. The filet mignon was delicious as were the two side dishes I selected, beans with bacon and caramelized potatoes with rosemary. It is certainly on the pricey side but well worth it. The meal was very memorable and this was by far the best restaurant we ate at in Seligenstadt over three days.

It is not just ice cream, we have never had ice cream in there. We live quite near Seligenstadt so go there often, and the cakes are wonderful and so is the hot chocolate - I think it is the best hot chocolate I have ever had. The staff are very nice too. The only problem is it is often hard to get a place to sit there because it is rather small, but then the cakes can be taken away too.

Mmm. Wonderful schnitznel with green pepper sauce. I had mine with bratkartofflen while my wife and friend went with kroketten. Both potato dishes were good but not great. Great homemade bier was the reason we returned here and it did not disappoint. This is my go-to place for bier and food in Seligenstadt.

Seligenstadt is a great old small town. If you wants to see ancient houses ans is in the area, should visit it. But once you visit the Kloster, can´t miss the Café. They offer German style sandwiches, soups and cakes. Good atmosphere, and if the weather allow, you can sit outside.

Excellent ice cream, the place is constantly over crowded, but if you are not in hurry, you should definitely order some of the "Eisbecher" or Spaghetti Eis, it is definitely worth waiting for.
