Being terribly British here, this excellent cafe has a good range of real tea and actually offers afternoon and high tea!
Having said that we went for dinner ( they offer breakfasts too, based on our experience its all good), had a spinach n ricotta strudel with fresh carrot salad and ravioli al forno. Both very well done, and decent portion. We followed up with pavlova, which was home made and came with excellent blueberry ice cream, the meringue was just slightly too refined, good pistachio mousse. Service friendly and helpful and in English! Tea, so good to get a choice, had a very good oolong. We were all set to go back, but they shut the next day! Highly recommend.

Fuimos al que se encuentra frente al río. El lugar es lindo, pero no encontré ningún otro atractivo como para volver.
La carta es variada, pero la mayoría de los platos no los tenían disponibles...
Nos sirvieron vasos de plastico porque se les habían terminado los de vidrio.....
El servicio bastante lento.
Los baños en muuuuy mal estado.
Los precios normales, aunque por lo brindado diría que es caro.
No volvería.

Lindo lugar con hermosa vista a la plaza. Fuimos el día que llegamos tipo 15 hs. Nos sentamos a tomar algo y decidimos pedir algo para picar...pero a esa altura ya tenían 40 min de demora...por lo que optamos por comer. Pero a nuestro alrededor había gente que estaba desde más temprano esperando por su plato. Una parejita terminó comiendo sus tallarines a las 16 hs. Más allá de este problema, la atención fue buena y nos trajeron pan casero con salsita para acompañar nuestra gaseosa.

We have been here a few times. El Balcon has walk up as well as table service.
Good coffee and super ice cream...
They have flavors from local trees, herbs, and plants, some unusual. I forget the names, but you could ask for helados regionales maybe?
Also, El Balcon has water based items for those who are lactose intolerant.

Used to having a little lunch, the portions I encountered where very big, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, and being a picky eater as I am, that is saying something really good about this place.

Casi todos los poblados y ciudades del mundo han tomado viejos edificios o casonas y los han transformado en algo novedoso. Los restaurantes no escapan a esta corriente. Ventanas con historia de haberse golpeado por el viento ya tienen pintura del siglo 19. Frente a una plaza cruzada por el viento arrachado y caliente. Arrastrando polvo que se cuela por todos lados.. entrar aqui fue casi como un oasis. Calmo mas fresco. Varias mesas de madera añosas ocupadas por turistas. Si bien habia una mesera se devolvía con amabilidad y rapidez. Pizza de harina integral y vegetales. Empanada árabe y flan con dulce... demoró bastante pero valio la pena... además quien tiene apuro en vacaciones?... lo servido estuvo acorde en cantidad y fe muy rico sabor... precio muy aceptable. Permanecimos conversando largo rato. El sol afuera no cedía palmo.. 36°en la sombra. Calles de tierra y desiertas.... solo canes vagabundos y nosotros... Ah.. los baños son diferentes. Bien...

Genial la onda y la comida. Te sentís muy cómodo en todo momento, no solo por el ambiente sino también por el personal. La comida es muy rica y original. el único problema que tienen es que al mediodía se llena y tardan mucho en traer el servicio que puede llegar falto de temperatura.

We had a great meal here. It's located very centrally and was right next to our hostel so we thought we'd give it a try. The staff were very friendly, sitting us by the fire as it was a chilly evening. We sampled a few of the tapas dishes which were all tasty and good value. Would highly recommend!
