A charming small romatic place with excellent wine and a small but fine series of food. I loved the lamb with polenta and the pancake coated salmon with safran risotto was also very nice, and an eyecatcher. A bit expensive though.

The location is spectacular, with down and upper terraces. In weekends, there are plenty of people, even you have to hunt for a table, so do not expect special care from the staff. Anyway, we had pleasant breakfast and the surroundings compensate mediocre food.

Actually we were sailing into Rust and started our tour off at Seehotel Rust, were we left our boat. From there it was just a few minutes walk into the center of Rust where you may find this restaurant. We decided to eat there as it lies within a nice place which makes you feel comfortable. Of course we already expected it to be some sort of touristic as well because of its location but on rare occasions residents want to feel like strangers as well ;-)
We made use of the "Schanigarten" in front of the restaurant which was sheltered with awnings, which was useful as it started to drizzle lateron.
The (hungarian) waiters were due to the fact that they work in a touristic area still quite nice (but not more than necessary) and drinks were served immediatly after ordering. Even for the food we had not to wait very long. We had Zander, Tafelspitz, a small Pizza and chicken nuggets. The fish was o.k., but the Semmelkren of the Tafelspitz was not good at all and I was more than disappointed about that, as it usually has a very good taste. Even the Tafelspitz itself was not what I expected. At least with the chicken nuggets they didn't do anything wrong. The Pizza was quite o.k. as well. Actually tastes are different but with some dishes, like Tafelspitz, you simply have to reach a certain standard. Another aspect which showed that it was not a "real" Austrian restaurant: we had to pay for additional "Ketchup" extra (€ 0,60), which is usually never the case in restaurants. I found this really poor when I spotted it on the invoice lateron.
All in all we paid € 60,-- for 2 adults and 2 small kids.
After all I would not go there again as there are a lot more restaurants and Heurige in Rust to visit which are typically Austrian (or better call it "typical for Rust") and have excellent food and friendly service.
Anyway you may check their homepage: www.haydnkeller.at

Mooslechner’s Bürgerhaus is a little piece of paradise in the heart of Rust. It has a highly individual hotel and a first class restaurant.
Overall this has the best food (just) in Rust but it is at a price. The sister restaurant at the Rusterhof has very good food at a cheaper price. The service here is very good & helpful, which is just as well because the menu is written in a very elaborate gothic script which is hard to decipher. Takes credit cards. Very nice atmosphere. Good if slightly pricey wine list. More modern slant to the menu

We enjoyed salads, smoked eel and fresh local fish for dinner in the cozy courtyard of this local restaurant. The town is nesting place for families of pelicans -- and you can see several nests on the rooftops. Come for the pelicans and enjoy the lovely local food. Nothing fancy, but fresh food served efficiently at a very reasonable price. What more can you ask?

We live in Vienna and every summer go to to Neusiedlersee to sail and visit Rust and eat by Rusterhof. It's a charming cosy restaurant with excellent food and a very friendly service. You can sit either in garden or by the square watching the storks in their nests p the roof of almost every house in Rust in summer!
The menu highlights are goose liver, beef tatar, asparagus soup, fish and desserts like cherry or apricot knödel (dumplings). A glass of Frizzante with edler sirup( holunder) is perfect on a hot day!
Everything is so tasty and the portions are big so it's always a pitty to leave without trying more dishes!
A reservation is recommended although we always managed to get a table without booking.
Super place! We will be back!

Excellent wine at a fair price, nice food, fast service. A conversation is not to be expected from the Hungarian nationality waiter, still tavern/restaurant vocabulary is there ;-)

Lovely restaurant with traditional Austrian cuisine. The kurbiscremesuppe (pumpkin soup) was wonderful, thick, tasty, perfect blend. The hirschragout was thick and tasty, lots of beef, lovely gravy. Potato croquettes were hot and crisp. My husband had the tafelspitz and said it was well up to standard. Wines represent a good selection of local wines, and mixed drinks were varied and even included caperinhas. Service was perfect, friendly and attentive, but not obsequious. The restaurant itself has two sections, a modern area with bar that includes smoking, and a smaller area that is in a 400 year old room, very Austrian, for non-smoking, where we ate. The bill for two, including two soups, two main courses, dessert, wine and two after dinner drinks was €60.

Living in Asia we truly like it spicy..... What a nice surprise to enjoy their Chili meat loaf (Leberkaese) with great mashed potatoes & pumpkin. Also their spicy mini cheese sausages did not disappoint.Went there because our original choice "Weingut Gabriel" just opposite had no table available. Came back the next evening with my relatives, since we loved the place and food.Indoor Seating for a party of 6 is not so easy, the benches will be crammed. Swift service from the mostly Hungarian waiters, and depending who is your server he also can be charming. We tried all their available reds by the glass and liked the Pinot noir best. Cabernet is good, Merlot decent and the Blaufraenkischer is a let down.Overall a nice place which will not disappoint you !

My wife Gabi loved this place (she's an ice cream addict), the choice of flavours was immense. Pleasant decor and nice outdoor sitting area.
