Konoba Mala Mare

Driving along the coast from Dubrovnik to Split was the first great experience of the day. The second was finding this charming family run restaurant next to the Adriatic. They make their own wine, grow many of the vegetables and everything is fresh and homemade. The daughter who waited on us was just a doll. We had the platter of grilled meats which included sausages, skewered chicken and pork, beef steak and pork cutlet. They had the best potatoes I think I have ever eaten and I am not a lover of potatoes. Along with this...fresh grilled vegetables. It is making me hungry just remembering this pleasant experience.

Nicolo Polo

The Nicolo Polo Restaurant is one of the oldest still operating restaurants in Gradac. It entered the Polo family in 1988 but was known as " Bartuls place" before that. Has since it opened been known as one of the best places in the whole region to dine in, famous for its fresh ingredients, sometimes taken directly from the sea, and continously changing menu.
Our cuisine is mainly sticking to the motto "to sell a domestic experience" and focus therefore mostly on Dalmatian-Mediterranean Cuisine. However, for those guests that feel more comfortable with an International and trendy offer our menu wont lack that either. As the owner was born and raised in Sweden and his family Restaurant tradition goes back to the 60ies in Sweden, as being one of the first Restaurateurs from Croatia, a small touch of Scandinavia can be felt in the food too.

Anyhow, Croatia is not only Dalmatia (The Mediteranian). Croatias gastronomy is reflected from a long seize of many neighboring countries, such as the Ottomans(Turky), the Habsburg (Hungary, Austria), Venize and Rome (Italy), Napoleon (France) and more that can be felt in other areas of Croatia and Herzegovina.
Also, as Marco Polo was an explorer and gourmand, here and there even a trace of Asian flavors can be felt in some of our specialties - areas he explored.

When traveling to new places and food cultures, people want to explore new tastes and hopefully choose the best quality. We wish to be your ambassador of a great gastronomy experience - this include interesting and changing menus for the best quality in our house, organizing wine and gastro tours, organizing evenings where we take you to old taverns hard to find....

What happeneddddd!?!? The restaurant is dirty, staff impolite, food is not the food you order ... what happened?! I will never go to this restaurant again! I am so disappointed. This was my favourite place ... Hm... Horrible. I ordered tomato soup, and I got ....everything but not tomato soup, I ordered fried cheese, and I got 2 tinyyyy tinyyy pieces of cheese ... seriously, what happened!?!? My husband and I just got up and left. These thing saddens me on Balkan, you have a feeling of disrespectfulness, the feeling that you are being robbed, and you cannot do anything about it. People, it's not about the money, it's about the feeling.

Restoran Pecina

Reviewed By sunandsand45 - Delaware

Restaurant Pecina is located in Ploce where the A-1 Hwy ends and before you get to the marshy area of the Neretva River. There are no gas stations/ rest stops with food on a long stetch of the new Hwy before Ploce. Pecina has a lovely, vine covered Terrace, a dark bar that looks like a cave and two indoor dining areas (one with the cave theme). We ate there on our way to Dubrovnik and again, on the way back.We were pleasantly surpised both times! On the first visit I had a very tasty tomato based seafood risotto and my husband had an excellent grilled shish-k-bob. On our 2nd visit we started with an exceptionally good marinated seafood salad. As an entree my husband had the Adriatic squid. He had a very generous portion of 8 or 9 very tasty squid. I had a wood grilled Bass which was one of the freshest, tastiest fish I had the whole trip. (That is really saying something because we ate a lot of fish!). On top of this the prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food served.
My only complaint is about the bathrooms. Although they are basically clean and provide a generous supply of toilet paper and paper towels they are dingy and dark. They need a fresh coat of paint and better lighting. In addition, the 2nd time I was there the toilet seat was off in the ladies room.

We stopped on our way through and really enjoyed our meal the host was lovely the food fantastic and the price very reasonable. There was one slight problem that the credit card machine wasn't working but we managed to scrape together enough cash and as an apology was offered free coffee and cake, if your passing pop in for lunch it would be hard to be disappointed.

The daily meals seemed interesting, but we came too late, we've been told. But pizza is not what they should do, at least not the one which is their specialty and shares the name with the restaurant - Bacchus. it's pizza with tuna and it looks and tastes as minced meet pizza. it's greasy, with ugly brownish colour and very difficult to digest. My wife's meal called "100 leaves" (assemblage of grilled chicken bites with cubed vegetables) was decent, but then, pancakes with walnuts were with dry walnuts ONLY. No sugar even or something. Uh, I needed "pelinkovac" in the harbor coffee bar to start breathing.

The restaurant is located inside the omonymus hotel Saudade.
It has a wonderful view over the sea, the beach and sunset.
The staff was great: great service, kindness and good suggestions on which dish to choose.
I chose as starter the "Dalmatian taste" with local ham, bacon, olive and different kind of cheese.
As main dish I tasted a fantastic Monkeyfish with local vegetable.
The dessert was superb!!!
A fantastic evening!

After being here second time I must say that I expected at least the same feeling like first time.. I cannot say food is not good - actually it is, but the way of serving and also hospitality was different to my previous experiences. Mr. Antunovic should carefully thing about customer needs and probably change behavior of staff. Maybe we just have to high expectation based on previous visits... We did not feel that we are at home as last time :(
To fully summarize it - great place with great potential and great food.
