Dari Dip

Dari Dip is a family owned and operated business serving Lafayette since 1953. Dari Dip is some place more than an ice cream store... Their seafood, rib-eyes, and ice cream offering are not to be missed. This long time restaurant is worth a visit for the vintage building and neon sign work. The food is traditional Southeast American in its offering--all prepared hot with generous portions. Service is friendly and attentive, with milkshakes so thick a spoon will stand up in them indefinitely if you turn the glass upside down.

This was the only place that showed up on Tripadvisor in the area where we could get ice cream. The ice cream was like anywhere you would go, the service was acceptable. There was nothing exciting that would stand out, but it's not expensive and did seem like the only real ice cream place in the area. They also have food but we only were looking for ice cream.

Good family setting. Good service. Very clean.

Food?

The burrito special was awesome.

The vegetarian chimichanga was good, but not great.

The beef quesadilla was inexpensive but not very good.

The steak fajitas were one of the worst meals I've ever had in any restaurant anywhere in my entire life

I understand this restaurant is highly rated and many have recommended that I go there. So I did. But I won't be doing it again.

Over the past few months, I've visited The Station House 5 or 6 times and it's always exceptional. I've tried several dishes and each one has been delicious, but my favorite is the blackened salmon. Dishes have a Thai influence and are much better than more popular restaurants in the Chattanooga area thanks to the head chef, Chailada Hanchanlash. Every time I've been in, Chailada has taken the time to greet us and she's been incredibly nice. The Station House is fantastic and definitely worthy of a visit.

Over breaded and overcooked catfish. This was my first and last visit. This was a takeout order otherwise I would have sent the food back. The "brown" gravy was awful and know it was made from some type of mix. But they are not alone as I have been to several restaurants that make their southern gravy using a mix and not from scratch.
The catfish did not go to waste, The dogs loved it.
The fella who took my order was friendly.

This place makes the most beautiful cakes. But, at lunch, the place is packed with people eating sandwiches. About $8.00 per person, excluding desert, which you gotta have. It's one of the top 3 restaurants in Walker County.

It wasn't exactly what I expected. I'd heard it was one of those "healthy" places with bean sprouts and pasta. What I got was good home cooked simple food.
There were 5 of us for today's outing; me, my mom, my niece and her two sons. I had Dot's Chicken and Rice, broccoli casserole and a garden salad. My niece had Chicken & Dressing. My mom and grand-nephew had Meatloaf and the other nephew had Peppered Steak. Everyone said the meal was very good except the meatloaf which had a vinegar type gravy.
My Chicken and Rice was just boiled rice with canned chicken. That's O.K. It was well prepared and very good. I highly recommend the Broccoli Casserole. The salad was fresh. I was disappointed that my salad came after the chicken and rice. I like having my salad before the meal. Other than that, it was very enjoyable. Cost $19.16 for me and mom.

Big John's Barbeque

This place will destroy your car. The parking lot is partially paved and partially dirt and where the two meet are pot holes and drop offs. But we're here to talk about the food. I got the regular pork sandwich with slaw and a regular fry. It cost a little over $6.00. They have really good bbq and slaw. The problem is the bun is extremely soft and by the time you get to the end of the sandwich, your eating a pile of tasty mush. The fries are a real potato cooked in cheap oil. They come out soaked in oil that really doesn't taste good. Plus they lack salt. And, they don't peel them. That's a pet peeve for me. I hate restaurants that are too lazy to peel potatoes. Overall, if I want bbq, again, I'll look for a better place, but if I don't find one, this one's o.k.

I eat here at least once a month. I'd eat there more if my husband liked Chinese food. The price can't be beat. I spend $8.00 and eat 3 days. Excellent sweet & sour. Great egg rolls. Love the crab ragoon, general tao, and everything else. Nice family run business.

Twins Pizza & Steaks

I have been coming here several times a year for the past several years. The food is always top-notch and great tasting and well prepared. However this last time we went there apparently was a disagreement in the kitchen with the owner yelling and cussing at one of his staff. This disagreement was out of sight but not out of earshot. The entire dining room got quiet with an awkward silence for a minute or two afterwards. From reading other reviews this appears to occasionally occur. I suppose that everyone has a bad day now and then because I know that the owner provides free meals at his restaurant to whoever needs one on either Thanksgiving or Christmas (I can't remember which) so he obviously has a big heart towards those in need.

That being said - as always the food was wonderful both me and my wife enjoyed our meal. I had the cannelloni and she had a calzone both of which were fixed exactly as ordered and the price was very reasonable. I will continue to dine here when in town.

I've never had a burger in a Mexican restaurant. My husband wanted Mexican. I didn't, but he always gets his way when it comes to food. So, I was a little surprised to see Cheeseburger and Fries on the menu. 100% Angus Beef on a toasted bun with lettuce, tomato, pickle and onion. Mustard, Ketchup and Mayonnaise comes in packs. It was a risk but I'm glad I took it. It was delicious.
