Happened upon this Chinese style restaurant one afternoon and have been back many times! Serves amazing large plate/bowl fulls of fantastic Chinese style food. All freshly cooked to order, piping hot and quick. Very cheap and serves beer.
None of the servers speak English but with picture menus ordering was very easy. Staff are very friendly and kind and you always leave full and happy!

柏崎駅前のホテルサンシャインの1Fにあります。ホテルに宿泊したので、朝食でレストランを利用しました。利用する場合は、チェックイン時に食事を選んで予約する必要があります。柏崎の名物(？)の鯛茶漬けを選びました。特別美味しいものだとは思いませんでしたが、所謂ビュッフェとは違って、自分用の食事が出てくるのが良かったです。

On business trip to Kashiwazaki and staying near the train station. Not much to there. Had recommendation to go to Tomiya. So had hotel get us a cab - about a 1,500 Y ride from the hotel. Amazing place. Went back there again and again. The menu is entirely in Japanese with no pictures and we can't speak or read Japanese. The servers there didn't speak english but we had some ideas for what we wanted and were able to ask about them. Between us being to say the name of certain dishes and their working with us we were able to make it work. For example, EBI-FRY - is their fried prawns. They're giant and very tasty. Ask for sushi or sashimi and what the server will likely point to is a combination plate. Again, very tasty. Tonkatsu is a fried pork cutlet - with the sauce and again, very tasty. So, if you can't read Japanese then either get some pictures of what or learn to say what it is you want.
I don't have a good point of reference for what food costs should be in this part of Japan. My point of reference is my home (SF Bay Area). Entrees at Tomiya run about $13 - $15 depending on the conversion so I would call it very reasonable.

A lot of local patronage here, and for good reason. I had the chashu men and the pork strips were hanging over the bowl. I was stuffed for days. Just in front of the station, it's convenient too.

この日、敦賀を出発して新潟をめざして北陸自動車道を走りました。その途中に立ち寄ったのが、米山サービスエリアです。
米山サービスエリアは日本海のすぐ近くにありました。外から日本海を見渡せる展望広場のようなところがありました。気持ちよいほど広ーい日本海には、ちょうど正面あたりに佐渡が見えましたよ。

飲み放題付きコースメニューがお奨めです。国道8号線沿いにあるので便利な大衆居酒屋といった感じです。お酒類がボトルで注文出来ないのがちょっと不満ですが料理は美味しかったです。

柏崎駅から３㎞ちょっと離れていましたが、ヘギそばが食べたいと思って行った店です。名物は韃靼そば（にがそば）ですが、２人前からなので、一人で行くと大変なことになります。まあ、うどんを５玉くらい平らげる私の胃をもってすれば、それくらいでも大丈夫でしたが…。韃靼そばと普通のそばを１人前ずつの２人前というのも対応してくれたので、それぞれの味を楽しめました。フ海苔独特のコシとのど越しでとても美味しかったです。

お寿司屋さんなので魚の新鮮さは折り紙付き。刺身盛り合わせはベーシックなものでも貝や小鯛などいいネタが入ってます。刺身から焼き魚てんぷらなど一通り頼んでちょっと飲んでも片手でおつりがくるコスパもうれしいです。もちろんちゃんとお寿司食べていいネタ切ってもらってとやれば一流のおもてなしも受けられますので、仕事使いの使い勝手が良いです。
