Karpenisi (Greek: Καρπενήσι) is a town in central Greece. It is the capital of the regional unit of Evrytania. Karpenisi is situated in the valley of the river Karpenisiotis (Καρπενησιώτης), a tributary of the Megdovas, in the southern part of the Pindus Mountains. Mount Tymfristos (2,315 m elevation) lies directly to the north of the town, and the foothills of mount Kaliakouda are in the south. Karpenisi has a ski resort and is a popular destination, especially during winter. It is called Switzerland of Greece for the resemblance with the mountainous country and its beauty, atypical for a Mediterranean place.

Take the grilled fish and you won't be sorry. Didn't try any of the other dishes but the grilled fish is a delight, they know what they are doing and it is right from the little stream below the restaurant so why eat anything else? Can't say it is cheap though.

I tasted pizza (a very good one-don't expect the italian one but a very tasty one that worths your try!), salad (very fresh one!) and pasta (they could be a little less boiled but still the components were fresh and of good quality!). The place is cozy and the personnel very polite and helpful! I was so satisfied that during my 5-days staying i went there again! I think it was a little more expensive than it should but still I would go again!

At to rakomelo you can eat the best galaktoboureko and ek mek kadaifi in Greece. It's a rear place with the best cakes I ever tasted in Greece. They have the best view and also very good coffee.the people working there are so warm and smiling and you can enjoy the highest level of service

Very unique restaurant artistic wise! The chef is also a painter and there's an art gallery upstairs with beautiful artwork. The staff is very nice and warm and the food is excellent! Definitely worth a visit for all of karpenissi visitors.
Don't miss the liqour at the end which you can also buy- it's great!

Nice place (well decorated) with nice spots inside the place to sit and njoy the food. Food was mediocre but not bad. A safe choice but nothing extraordinary. Staff was unfriendly however, they could have been more smiling and welcoming.

Nice place to have your hot chocolate with various versions....Prices were OK.
The problem was the smoke inside this cozy place....I really do not understand why me and my kid have to suffer from the endless cigarettes....
Too bad that the owners still allow smoking inside!!!

A very nice place to visit for coffee till the afternoon and many drinks for later. Fotis the owner is a great guy very pleasant and always helpful. Recommended for every season specially in the winter.

We are repeat customers having eaten at the restaurant last year (October 2016) !! Love the homemade food especially the beefburgers and the meat with orzo pasta in a ceramic dish !! Bean soup (fasolada) was fantastic :) All food is homemade and delicious - you may need to book as it gets very busy at times ! Highly recommend this restaurant :)

If you want to try outstanding Souvlaki and Beef Teki, in a cosy family-friendly place and for cheap - look no further !. We went to this place following the recommendation of our local guesthouse owner and then had to come back again the day after.
The selection is very basic. Souvlaki, Beef Teki and chops. you can get Greek salad,french fries,Tazaziki (of course) and a wonderful Greek pita (pocketless flatbread).
But the taste of it was just amazingly good for the price and the staff (although only one of them knew English) were very warm and welcoming. we felt right at home !
To get there you park in the central parking of Megalo Chorio, walk up the street where all the coffee houses and souvenir shops are and then where the road start to fork take the left path and climb 50m more.

We were recommended by the hotel in Karpenisi to go here for dinner and we did not regret it.
They have a wide selection of traditional dishes on the menu, although several of them were no available when we visited.
The dishes we selected, wild boar stifado and "paidaka" were well tasting.
