5 Km away from the city and walk from the road, with easy access and a large parking lot from which is accessed to an outdoor Terrace and the interior of the Cafe and restaurant. Extraordinary panoramic views from the restaurant, with large windows, which overlooks the Valley where the capital, JAEN, with its majestic Cathedral in the Centre and on the horizon is clipped the sierra morena massif. High ceilings and semicircular arches, great fitting lamps, forging, brick and wood in rustic decoration which gives a special atmosphere. Capacity of 200 guests comfortably. Since 1985 have been offering to our customers a kitchen with tasty flashes of Basque cuisine, not forgetting some locals and Mozarabic dishes and typical of the Southern Highlands in the area we are. The Highland Migas con tropezones, scrambled eggs with asparagus with black pudding and pine nuts, the salad stand in starters of table...the deer pate and a dish assortment-based tenderloin into centerboard of deer, wild boar and pig stands out in our kitchen meat to grilled in charcoal of holm oak, (beef, Iberian, lamb) roasted in the oven like lamb style Aranda, the Segovian suckling pig and the shoulder of kid. Fish such as cod baked au gratin with honey, nuts and prunes; baked Salmon, stuffed with vegetables and seafood, with cream, served with steamed potatoes and cooked prawns. Desserts include one of our invention: tear of mill, exclusive dessert made with extra virgin olive oil, Sierra Magina-picual variety. As well as chestnuts pudding or the ice cream biscuit of figs. We take care to maximize the quality of our products and the use of Virgin olive oil in the preparation of our dishes, both fried and salad dressings in a standard from the beginning. We have a letter from oils with 12 designations of origin all Extra Virgin, for the tasting/wine-tasting who want it. Other services are: summer Terrace with barbecue, children's entertainment at events such as christenings, communions etc. We accept all kinds of credit cards, (except Amex) as well as vouchers for meals "Restte. PASS"," Ticket Restaurant "and"Cheque Gourmet".
Once again the asador mirador has done us proud not only with their food but with the spectacular views from their dining room, we were there for lunch and i had an exquisite starter of Tomato, broad bean spring onion and dry salt cod salad, followed by a rack of roasted sucking pig ribs totally delightful. this restaurant never fails to deliver.

This has to be the best food I have had in rural Spain. Hardly any English spoken but the service was attentive charming and happy.
Opted for the special taster menu , which was sensational . Great wines and sherry .
Homemade ' digestifs ' which were second to none. Well worth a special trip or detour,

Great place to go for lunch or dinner! They have plenty of options to choose from and the food was delicious. I really enjoyed the presa as well as the chocolate dessert. The tapas that we received with our beers were equally as delicious as the food we ordered. If you haven't been there already, you should definitely try it!

I didnt like any of the food I got - simple as that! Over cooked - no taste - I didnt like to eat it. Why is it so hard to make simple good food with all the great fresh vegetables meat etc there is in Spain? Instead of trying to make advanced food - keep it simple and good. A nice tomato salade with a steak would do better - or just pil pil.
The parador is beautiful- but a shame with the food.

A lovely little restaurant which serves quality food at good prices. Raul really will do everything he can for his customers. The last dinner I had here consisted of provolone cheese with tomato, flamenquin con queso, bbq ribs and carrot cake for dessert. Everything was delicious, the wine was great and we were given a selection of bottles of liquer to help ourselves at the end. The only tip I have is that if you are going in a small group then stick to the bar menu rather than the restaurant menu. The restsurant menu only offers full portions rather than half so you can try more dishes for your money in the bar.

I visited back home and went back to this bar. It is situated near the Cathedral on the old quarter of the city. Staff is as attentive as usual, quick service and the food is nice. The Terrace has a water spray system to keep you cool in the summer months! If you are visiting the town I would recommend eating there, as the kitchen is open from 11 am until after midnight.

Excellent food and atmosphere... don't let the appearance of this place impress you. The food is very good, and the prices quite convenient.
The tapas offered with the drinks are all fish-based, but it is really worth trying some of the dishes served in the restaurant area (I don't like sitting in the street, so I preferred to stay inside). Gambas a la plancha were really excellent"

Nicely situated in an old cinema building of the city, la Mafia has a very funky interior, but unfortunately but the food does not quite it. We went there for a meal in winter and the serrano ham in my pizza was of low quality. Dished arrived at different times so the meal was a messy experience. Hopefully they've sorted themselves out by now.

I am a lover of fish and seafood. Unfortunately in Jaen you can hardly find a good restaurant that serves fresh fish and seafood. It was a pleasant surprise when I have found this small and cosy restaurant situated 5 minutes walking from Cortes Ingles. Here you can find fresh fish like european sea bass , grouper, cod and other types of Mediterranean fish. The fish is very well prepared and accompanied by cooked veggies. The beer is served with varied tapas. The personnel is funny and they always have something extra to offer to customary clients.

It is an honor to be the first to review this restaurant in English on Tripadvisor. After two weeks in Spain, we craved a restaurant experience that was authentic and not infected by what we call the 'tourist restaurant syndrome'.
El Zurito delivered exactly what we were after. Amazing authentic Spanish food, wonderful atmosphere, fantastic conversations with the local 'regulars' (who arrived in their droves 5 minutes after the doors opened for dinner) and an instant friendship with the owner and chef who is one of the most proudly Spanish men we have met in our travels.
Go to Jaen, if only to visit El Zurito. It is fantastic.
