La Bottega del 30

This restaurant is located in the small village of Villa A Sesta in the countryside. The drive to the restaurant from Siena was absolutely beautiful, through winding roads with great views of the rolling hills.
The restaurant itself is quite small. There were about 3 tables near the front door, which I think were for drinks only, and some tables inside but the main dining area was in the courtyard which was effectively surrounded by the stone restaurant building and a stone wall. There were about 12 tables here. This all provided for a great ambience.
We were greeted by the Chef and owner, Elena, who detailed to us what was in the tasting menu, which she highly recommended, but there was also an a la Carte menu.
We went with the tasting menu which included an aperitivi glass of prosecco, an amuse bouche and a small iced Bellini, 4 courses and dessert. The cover charge was included in the price of €90 per head. Coffee was €4.00 per cup and was extra. There were several types of home made bread as well as a gluten free option.
The dishes were an eggplant and tomato gazpacho, a huge raviolo with an egg inside and a truffle sauce (appears to be a house specialty and it was particularly delicious and looked fantastic when the egg yolk was broken), which was followed by quail and finally slow roasted veal cheek. Dessert included chocolate cake, a pistachio semi freddo with caramel sauce and a chocolate coated ice cream on a stick. All of the food was delicious.
The wine list was quite extensive with a good selection of local Chianti wines.
Service overall was good. The Chef paid regular visits to all of the tables and the sole waitress was very efficient. Others have commented on the sommelier and I will also.
He was clearly knowledgeable about the wines and poured us a glass of wine to begin with. Then, apart from topping up one glass with wine during the meal, he went missing. We saw him opening wine for the other tables and, at times, assisting the waitress to take some empty plates away, but there were only 8 tables occupied and only one with more than 2 people. Not sure as to what else he was doing. This though, was a small issue only.
There was plenty of parking near the restaurant.
Excellent evening and we would dine here again.

San Gusmè is one of the best places for Slow Turism and definitely this osteria is part of this experience. It is a simple restaurant, visited as well by local people with the best ragu cinghalle (javali) one could ever eat. Whenever you go there, please eat the pasta with cinghialle ragu.

I'm really disappointed after Reading good reviews.
Service:
We were met by an arrogant waiter who asked if we had Reservations even though the restaurant were far from full. (Fyi: It still far from full when We left as well) despite there being allot of free and Bruce tables We were seated at the worst table , close to the entrance outside and the table were swarming with flies. The not so pleasant waiter came back fifteen minutes after throwing the menus on the table, taking our orders. Shortly afterwards he came back with a mug of wine, but no glasses. We were given a basket of bread which obviously came half-eaten from another table.. (Yuk). At this point the table were full of banana flies. We tried to address the problem to the waiter several times but were completely ignored. We took our things and moved it to a table inside after telling another waiter. No help were given so we carried our glasses ourselves.
Food:
We went for ham and melon for starter, which were ok. The ham could have been cut thinner. Ordered penne al arabiatta which were an insult to Italy's food scene. We've had a lot of tasty homemade pasta during our many visits to Italy. This was not one of them. The pasta was coming directly from a store bought box. There was hardly any sauce at all and the dish itself were really small. Made me miss store bought dolmio/ barilla pasta sauce. Actually the dish being small didn't matter since the pasta tasted crap.
Since no waiter were around to ask if the food was ok and no one came by we went to pay at the counter and left the food and the wine to the flies. Hope they enjoy it at least..
The restaurant:
Could really need a good cleaning. The wall next to our table were so dirty, it looked like there had been a bus load of kids eating spaghetti at the table before us. See photos..
Stay away..

Popped into this delightful looking eaterie for lunch after visiting the nearby Sculpture Park (which by the way is a great stop). We were welcomed by the family owners and enjoyed the menu of authentic local cuisine. The portion sizes were generous and delicious. Good service without being rushed. The bill was half of what we usually get. We highly recommend.

Relax: you are in Bengodi... This historic place is in the heart of Castelnuovo Berardenga, and has re-opened under new management starting April 2014. The gracious blend of traditional Chianti cuisine, the fantastic setting in the courtyard of a former medieval castle, the skillful and courteous service and the well-stocked wine cellar will make your dinner or lunch at Bengodi the experience of a lifetime!

I came upon this place near lunch time and gave it a try. The other customers were mostly speaking Italian, one group of Americans with misbehaving children fortunately left soon after I arrived. I had pasta, pork sausages, and spinach, plus a glass of wine, water, and coffee -- 25 Euros. Not haute cuisine but tasted great and the service and atmosphere were nice. I would not go out of my way for it, but it's worth a try if you are passing by.

On vacation, heading out from Manarola in Cinque Terre for 4 days in Tuscany. Driving by noticed this restaurant and decided to give it a try. First off no fish, my Italian is very limited and at first mistakenly thought filet was filet of fish. Luckily they were very accommodating and had a delicious lasagna they cooked up with pesto and spices. My family are Carnivores and between the steak wrapped in bacon, the veal prepared 4 ways, and the duck pasta everyone was very happy. One thing in particular that everyone noticed is that the bacon was VERY salty! Other than that very nice local Chianti and very tasty Deserts. Service was slightly slow but attentive and reasonably priced. 4 with bottle of wine and 4 Deserts out for $100.E.

We were recommended this by our B&B as many places were closed for the holidays, it was a wonderful experience. It is filled with only locals. If you are here to get different wines with different courses you are in the wrong restaurant, it's a local place and they will treat you as a local, it's sort of a mama's kitchen place. Its authentic local good food, not the tourist food but the common food locals do eat. Our food was very good both nights we ate here. Service was also very good and friendly - recommend but understand where you are going on your Tuscany experience.

L'Asinello was the best meal we experienced in a month staying near Siena on a wine estate. The owners and servers are gracious, attentive, and accommodating. The small Village and and restaurant setting are just lovely - in the countryside, historic, picturesque, and the restaurant itself is beautifully planted with fragrant flowers.
The best part of the experience is the food. A tasting menu is offered and worth every delicious taste sensation. The food is a creative take on traditional Tuscan offerings. It includes the freshest of ingredients, complex mix of flavors, perfectly prepared, beautifully presented, and delicious. A robust wine list. Highly recommended.
