Somehow this restaurant was Bayonne's one Michelin starred restaurant, yet not on the list Trip Advisor provided when I reviewed our hotel. A real puzzle, because this intimate restaurant just behind the Musee Basque was a real treat. My wife still thinks the amuse bouche, a mushroom bisque, is the best dish she's yet tasted in France or Spain. The chef comes into the dining room to explain the menu, suggest courses, take your order; we saw only two other workers in the place. Everything we ordered was delicious; Reading the other reviews appearing to the right, I have to imagine that any negative comments were made by jealous competitors.

Followed trip Advisor to find a reasonably priced restaurant with excellent cuisine.
The entrée coq d'œuf? was fabulous with truffe and fois gras. A must try!
The fish for main course also excellent.
Service very good. Punch nice and only €3 a glass
However the bill came to €46 for one so a memorable meal but acceptably priced.
The only negative was a man I thought was there for service, but he talked and did not work with the waiter. Suddenly he placed locally made sauces on the table for me taste. I thought it was part of the restaurant service, but then he started to try to sell them! A mustard with natural rose was €22!! Haha. His selling approach was soft but then he tried to close the deal. I did not like this.
So a message for the restaurant;
5 stars for the cuisine and service
-1 star for a salesman trying to sell and close a deal of overpriced condiments under the guise of the restaurant.
Am afraid I will not come back because of this. A shame.
It is a good restaurant but they should not do this. I am English but work inFrance. Tourists should not be sold to In this subversive manner.
It is a restaurant, not a direct sales venue.

Tucked away in a remote residential part of Biarritz, this restaurant offers the complete package: great food, great service, nice atmosphere. The dishes are refined and carefully composed: the chef experiments with a range of unusual flavors such as cardamom-infused carrot mash, or popcorn-flavored foam to go with a soft chocolate fondant. And they all work beautifully. We liked the staff, friendly and jovial but discreet and patient with our mistakes with the french language. We definitely recommend this place to whoever enjoys fine dining.

Was there as a couple. The set up is calm and a bit away from the Biarritz bustle which was a plus for us, probably the only one. The homemade cocktails are passable and overpriced for a resort town. The menus are basic fares with low quality ingredients resulting in a bad overall experience. Even if the service is friendly it does not offset the low quality of ingredients. Ended with a dinner at 95 euros for two, which was not worth 40. Fortunately the company was great ;-)
Avoid the place. Not worth your time and money.

Dined here purely by chance. What a stroke of luck. The restaurant serves traditional local food. It is run by a lady with a huge personality, who speaks very little English, but whose enthusiasm to serve you with great traditional food is simply wonderful. When we arrived, the place had a few customers, but was still very quiet. She showed us to a table and offerred us an aperitif. We then waited a while, whilst she served the other customers and began to be come a little concerned as to whether or not we had chosen the wrong restaurant. The problem was she was doing everything - meeting customers, providing drinks, cooking and serving food. She was becoming a little flustered, but everything was done with a huge smile. We were expecting a menu, but one was not forthcoming. She suggested we tried the local rustic menu, which we did. She showed us a framed review in English of the food, which was very encouraging, but we did have some Reservations. When the soup came arrived, it was presented in a huge bowl, which could have served several people, but it was just for us. It was so tasty and quite filling. The next course was minced veal over vegetables. Again piping hot and beautifully cooked, followed finally a local gateaux.
This place should not be missed in any visit to Bayonne. The atmosphere and the food was great, but the star attraction is the lady who runs the restaurant.

Was already one of my favorite restaurants of Bayonne, but now changed the management and probably also the owner is different.
No big change inside.... Was already a nice place, so I don't see needs of changes for the moment.
Service is good even if not 100% perfect.
Please change the decanter: design is good but is really uncomfortable to be used.
Food were good but now I see also innovation on the dish preparation and the experience was really impressive.
This kind of quality and innovation for 30 euro are a good deal. Menu is really limited and this is a clear choice of style. If they will change often the menu is a perfect place!
Five star needed
Keep up good work
I'll come back for sure

Stoked from a great surf, I got back and we made plans for dinner. Tonight we were off to L’Impertinent which has an excellent reputation (and a Michelin star). The food was outstanding, and the wine we chose was the first of a couple of “gifts” in a Premier Cru Montrachet. We started outside which was nice, until one bloke lit up a cigar and then we moved inside. It was a warm night, but a great night and we needed the twenty minute stroll home big time.
The food was just sensational. I'll write about it separately in more detail, but suffice to say I highly recommend this restaurant despite the expense.

Hello, Im new in Bayonne and use this site to find the good stuff, as I've done everywhere I go.
We choosed Bakera for lunch (12th august) and I will not be back again. This is the 1st time the reviews were very far from what I found the place to be.
We were seated on the large table by the kitchen, and the service was terrible, after 10 minutes I decided to take a picture of the menu board outside because the waiter didnt bring us the menus, courtesy water came about 10 minutes later (20 total) and the food almost 50 minutes since we seated.
While we wait for ages, we could see the kitchen stuff drinking (dunno but maybe it was whiskey) , eating and leaving almost outside (he was by the back door but he was still inside the restaurant) for a smoke and not cleaning hands after the very quick break.
The only waiter was busy but also got the time for talk and chat with other clients.
The food was ok but just ok, prices were correct.
I have been to places in Bayonne much much better than Bakera...
