What a phenomenal restaurant. It’s a slice of gracious living, beginning with a wonderful G&T served in gorgeous glasses at a gorgeously retro bar. The decor throughout is the perfect 60s style. It’s ideal. The serving staff are all fantastic. Special shout out to Chelsea for being a charmer. Kind, fun, and really ready to help. They made my visit. The food is divine. Definitely a new favourite in Hull and total bang for my buck. The playlist is a great blend of my fave — 60s pop — and Grecian. Not too loud and obtrusive, but enough to give atmosphere. I’m a Hull lass, but moved away. At 22, I’d never been to The Lantern, but it is absolutely my new favourite.

The Greek Restaurant

This was originally posted on my blog. We’ve tried a few times to come and eat here unsuccessfully. Everyone we know who has come here to eat has really recommended it. A child free Saturday night loomed, so we thought we’d try and book in again, and guess what, this time we managed it.When we arrived at the restaurant it was fairly busy, apart from a couple of empty tables. We were greeted quickly and shown to our table. We were given menus and left to look through them. However, very quickly, another member of staff came to the table to ask if we’d been before and if we needed any help with the menu.We said we hadn’t and were told that most people order 5 or 6 meze dishes to start with and then see how they get on. We worked back through the menu, picking out the dishes that caught our eye (there were a lot) and working it down to a final list. The waitress came back to the table fairly quickly and we ordered our 6 dishes and a carafe of rose wine to share. We also asked for some tap water. The drinks came promptly and the first food dishes weren’t too far behind. The meze that we ordered came in a steady stream, which I have to say I preferred. I’ve never been a fan of ordering tapas / meze and then having it all arrive at once. The food itself was delicious. Well worth the delay in being able to book a table. Each dish was tasty and well made, and we soon made short work of it.We decided against ordering anymore main courses, but did split a portion of baclava, which was just as nice as the mains we had shared. The wine had been a nice accompaniment to the meal as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and I can say we will definitely be returning.
