Love the down stairs restaurant, furniture and music to a beautiful dinner with my husband. Every dish was delicious and we loved the little complimentary dishes from the chef really nice touch. The night shift cocktail was soo good I skipped dessert to have another! Can't wait to return and bring the family Hi Jadie,Thank for joining us in our restaurant for dinner!We are thrilled to hear you had such a great experience with us. Arrived at 1pm and the restaurant and bar we're busy. Food was excellent as usual and the cod(fish & chips) was massive. Service was friendly but slow as lots of guests we're in the garden enjoying the September Sunshine. We ended up settling our bill at the bar as our waitress had gone AWOL.Good Evening WeWantAnotherHoliday,Thank you for your kind words about our food and we appreciate your understanding with regard to us being busy. Although coming in at a peak time of busyness we do try to keep our standards of service at our usual high expectations so deepest apologies that it affected your visit. Our friends, who consider the Tilbury to be their preferred GastroPub, invited us for dinner here.Their recommendation was to choose mains from the Main section, not the Standard section.A first round of drinks ordered and brought to the table, we were presented with lovely amuse-bouches, very tasty.Starters as well as main courses were beautifully presented and equally well cooked - creative presentation, I must say.A very good wine list with the House wines, at least the more expensive ones, being really good.A excellent Macon to go with the fish and a smooth Morgon to go with the lamb dish.Very attentive and friendly service especially by the young restaurant manger.A wonderful evening out!If I lived around here, this would become my preferred pub restaurant, too!Dear WolfgangHeinrich,Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review, it was a real pleasure to receive. After a scathing review last year I felt I had to add that the Crown has improved in the past 18 months - better service - great food - lovely outdoor area ... all together a good experience...especially for a Sunday afternoon in the Sun ...Thank you for the latest review, it is good to hear you had a great time with us this Sunday, and hopefully will be happy every time you visit from here on!!

Met a friend here for dinner - hadn't been there for a few years. It was a lovely old pub and nice looking restaurant area. Menu very limited and disappointing, although prices were low(ish). We won't be going back.HiI don`t understand why you thing our menu is very limited and disappointingWith the following available : -Starters 4Mains 12 + 6 specials that 18Sides 11Snacks 5Sandwichers 7Ciabatta 4I don`t see that as limited or disappointing with very varied menu like that with something to suit all our customersWe are sorry you believe this but hope you will return at some point, and you will be able to choose from our new menu which starts 1st July.RegardsTony
