This was only my second visit to Timisoara and on my initial trip I despaired of finding anywhere to eat that wasn't grey, processed or just dangerous. But this second trip, with the help of some locals, I discovered Homemade. Now, there may be wonderful restaurants in the city and I am just not aware of them (as often happens in a new town) and maybe I was so pleased to find something edible that I have overreacted and pushed my comments a little but this is a nice place. It is, indeed, 'homely' and it is easy to walk right by Homemade because it looks like any other house on the block. Inside this feeling of someone's home continues, with living rooms furnished with, what feels like, someone's personal items. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere welcoming. The food I enjoyed. They do fish, meat and some veggie stuff. I will definitely return!

Centrally located on Strada Alecsandri Vasile (that links Liberty Square and Union Square), I had read positive reviews about the food here and was therefore disappointed to arrive shortly after 6pm to find it closed - the closing time of 6pm was clearly embossed on the front door. I returned the following day at 5.10pm to find chairs stacked on tables and two of the three staff members who were visible at the time sweeping the floor. One of them welcomed me with a gruff assurance that they were closed. I pointed out the closing time displayed on the door and was begrudgingly permitted to take a seat provided that I paid in cash. I stubbornly took a seat and ordered a four cheese omelette (21 lei, equivalent to GB£4.20) and a soft drink. It was delivered swiftly with the announcement that I would not be permitted to order anything else. My appetite now understandably somewhat diminished by the behaviour of staff, I was nevertheless more than impressed with the flavour, quality, and presentation of the food. I had paid up (minus a tip) and left within 25 minutes, still a further 25 minutes before the official closing time. My four star rating is for the food, the menu, the location, and the bright clean premises, and I maintain a sense of optimism that bad staff come and go.

We went for dinner with a large heterogenous group with picky teenagers and kids who would not have âgreensâ, the food was excellent and the staff did everything to make every one of the group happy with their meal! I highly recommend the place!

We had to wait for a few time because they were busy, but that was not a problem: we are on holiday and they were very kind. The food was delicious so the delay was not important. The green apple drink was really good so the pasta and the brouchets. Highly recomended!

Went there because we heard that the pizza is good. I ordered a Margherita just to feel the real taste of pizza. My boyfriend went for a Calzone. We aere pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the dishes. It was as tasty as it looks.

I started this evening with a chicken soup and my husband had a beef tartar. We was served by Marius, he served us all evening in most professional way possible. The starters both looked perfect and tasted just at good, my husband claimed that the tartar was one of the best he had.As main course I had the duck and my husband had the sirloin. The duck was as tender as it could be and full of flavors, the sirloin was perfectly cooked and topped of with duck lever that was a perfect complement.We both had the the chocolate dessert.Having dinner at the Merlot was a true pleasure and we warmly recommend the restaurant.We're happy you liked your Merlot experience Luminita L, we hope you'll be back soon! I have tried this restaurant because of the recomandation of my collagues. First impresion about the restaurant was the wine colection that absolutelly got me. The steak was the best I tried in Timisoara and the service and good music made the experience unforgetable. I will definitely come back !

Following other TR reports we decided to have dinner at Sabres, We were not disappointed. We were given a well sited table in the garden near the pond where plenty of fish were swimming around. The menu was really well planned made easy to understand and very comprehensive if you want fish. We enjoyed both salmon dishes plus pike perch and especially the selected salads. Good wine list offering Romanian and other wines from Italy and other countries. Really appreciated the friendly helpful and efficient service. The restaurant has a lovely terrace so we made the most of the Indian summer! We started by tasting a few delicious Romanian wines and then added a pleasant meal. The waitresses were very professional and friendly. It was our last night in Timisoara so we wanted something a little special, and VinTo turned out to be a good option.
